That C&D article is like the girlfriend who immediately assumed you were dead, facedown in the gutter, when you didn't answer your phone for an hour.
Either you had a unfortunate relationship or you are a darn good divorce lawyer. Fortunately, You Tube has many good videos on narcissistic behavior.

Until IDRA delivers the 8kT gigapress, there will be exactly zero Cybertrucks produced. Unless, we were wrong about the larger casting…
So those prototype videos we have all drooled and conjectured over are fake? Or by 'produced' you mean retail production because it is clear to me that Tesla is producing Cybertrucks. The Cybertruck doesn't actually need single piece castings; Elon told us to expect them and the Model Y has them front and rear and we have all assumed that is the way it will be. There is no question that we are all cha

The Cybertruck was designed around super efficient manufacturing. Without that, there is no product. That is where everything flows from.

The 4680 cells, the Gigapress, and whatever weird folding machines they will use for the 3mm steel are required for production of the Cybertruck.

The prototypes are the “million dollar Cybertrucks” Musk said they would not be producing. They are proof of concept vehicles.

In a pinch, Tesla could produce the rear CT casting as two halves, using the 6kT press, and bolt them together. However, this is the opposite of what Tesla is trying to achieve, since this would turn 1 part into many, and halve the gigpress efficiency.

Elon stated they would need a 8kT press for the CT castings, I have no reason to disbelieve him.

The only reason I ordered a Cybertruck the night it was unveiled was because I knew the 2 year time frame had zero chance of happening. Seriously what kind of fool thought they would get one in 2021? Now with preorders at around 27,000 it looks like it could be 2024 until I get one. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they can get to me before the end of 2023.

Honestly this Cybertruck rollout is worse than the Bronco roll out. Which is pretty bad.

If anyone believes the Easter Bunny will bring them a Cybertruck in 2023, it sure doesn't look like it.

I am at the point of just hoping they will build, someday. I think 2023 is a longshot. Especially the last statement from Elon was that they were "aiming for production in 2023".

Aiming for? That probably means 2024 for early order holders. With a lot of buyers getting theirs in 2025. Might as well just buy something else and not even think about it. If it comes out someday, fine. When my number is called I will take a look at it again. Of course I am expecting it to be probably $85,000+ by that time.

He said “Volume Production” in 2023. A term he uses to refer to when their production line is up to full speed. Production ramp takes about a year. So launch in 2022 at moderate volume, most of 2023 is spent getting production bugs ironed out and by 2024 they are producing 250,000 trucks/ month or more.

He’s used this term for a variety of things consistently, talking about Texas/ Berlin start up, talking about battery cell production ramp up, etc.

It isn’t a spigot you can just turn on.

That said… we’re getting an updated roadmap in 2 weeks. No point arguing this now.
