Now, I know I should have paid more attention to things, but- certainly wasn't expecting this...

while installing my driver side molle panel I lost one of the retaining nuts in a hole on the L-track. Unfortunately, there is a slight slope and the nut slid down a little bit so I was unable to get it out. I did try to fish it out from another hole down the track, but- i think it is stuck. I ended up temporarily stuffing the holes with a rag in hopes it catches the nut, but-- haven't had a chance to work very hard on this.

I just wanted to let others know so that they are cognizant of this. Best, and good luck.

That sucks! Sorry that happened to you. You can remove the l-track if needed, but the service manual doesn't have the procedure officially listed yet. Is the nut magnetic?

Thank you. I am at work, and luckily have some savvy Mechanical Engineers that were bored. Me being an Electrical Engineer, got some thick gauge wire, and they brought a magnet... Long story short, it was stuck against said rag (i imagine from vehicle movement), and we used the magnet to extract.

?‍? Learn from my mistakes lol

Nothing more motivated than an engineer who has the option to do anything other than work!

That sucks! I installed the nut on each bolt prior to installing the panel. I just lose fit the nut and positioned before tightening down.

I did too, just not enough... the sliding it into place made it loose, and fell off as soon as it went into hole. That said, i deviated from the instructions bc it seemed like it would be harder trying to screw it into the loose nut. I am surprised that's how the instructions show it.

Wow, no kidding? I know how frustrating it is. I assume you were able to eventually get it out? It won't happen to me again, I assure you of this lol

Same thing happened to me and I’m stuck on what to do to get the nut removed. Please help if you found a way!

might get a dime sized magnet tied to a string, or one of those bendy plastic orange gear hooks with a magnet wrapped in it, shove er down the hole

As someone above stated, try a long magnet... we used one of the telescopic ones we had in our lab. If you can't get it with magnet you can probably push it down the track and then catch it with magnet. Good luck!
