I have been getting error cc_a016 - vehicle unable to charge - vehicle connection issue.

This seems to always happen when the truck is near the charge limit. The charger is also blinking red lights occasionally and had to be reset.

Has anyone had the same issues?

Are you close to 100% SOC when that happens? My son's truck wouldn't charge past 96%

Your truck is attempting to download a firmware update to your wall connector. Let it finish.

No, it’s set to 80%. It gets to about 78%

I didn’t do anything to interrupt it. It has said that the last 2-3 times I have reached that SOC. Maybe the update is failing and causing this?

Try bumping the max SOC to 100% that will give you an idea if it is the battery management shutting it off or something else. See if it goes above 80%

That’s a good idea. I’ll try that. Thanks! I put in a Tesla support request to see what they say.

That wall connector is old might just be an incompatibility for some reason.

I also saw this on my truck but it was after it was charged to 80%, like an hour later... I still have not attempted to charge to a 100%, but will do that during the next charging session. Curious what it is and wondering if everyone sees this or just some of us. BTW, my wall charger is Gen2.

So far no issues on my gen 3 wall connector. I don't even have it on wifi. I lost the password lol

I increased The limit to 90%. It did get all the way, but still threw the same error. Probably after charging was finished. This seems to show that it’s probably something happening near or at the end of the charging cycle. Hopefully it can be fixed with an update and doesn’t get worse.

Did you try the mobile connector and see if that gives an error?

How do you know? Tesla service asked me to charge my X and see if it does the same thing. Doing that now.
