Hello,

We just got the powershare equipment and wall connector installed. So happy as it’s much faster than the obvious mobile charger. Powershare isn’t activated yet and I still have questions on partial backup vs a full backup. We have partial backup but sounds like I need a sub panel to do a full backup….have no idea!?

I work from home and drive about 30 miles a day, 3 days a week and the other days maybe 50 miles a day. I have other cars that I drive as well so some days it’s 0 miles for Cyberbeast.

In order to prolong battery, I have limit set at 80% and currently have scheduled charging set to midnight. It takes about 1.5-2hrs to fully charge.

Is this the optimal way to charge? Am I missing anything? This is my first EV so still learning a ton.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply and glad to know someone else has the same config. I read the manual and did some internet searching and feel like this is good config, but maybe we will learn more from some of the other experts.

That sounds reasonable. I have solar, with lots of excess solar and work from home as well. My driving is normally late afternoons/evenings. So, I charge to 80% at 1215 each day, using mostly solar (when I get real picky I reduce the amps to less than what I generate) so I'm never pulling from the grid or batteries (powerwalls)

Other considerations are if you have variable time-of-day pricing for your electricity, you can schedule to charge up during low-rates. (I don't have variable rates, so time-of-day doesn't matter for me).

Also, if you have a 'long' trip planned, charging up to 100% for the trip periodically is not a bad thing and won't hurt your battery.

I've been using this pattern with my 2019 Model 3 LR AWD for 5 years and will continue this pattern w/ the CT.

Are you on a time of day rate from your power company? If not, no need to set charging windows.

Great info -thank you!

We need to add solar and will do sooner rather than later.

I’m calling our electric company to figure out our plan. Will post here once I find out! I honestly dk you had to be on specific plan to receive reduced pricing for charging within off peak hours. Thought it was automatic reduced cost.

I schedule my charge session to complete just before my typical departure time.

For a little extra range, use the app to precondition the cabin just before you leave, since it uses shore power.

To others points, I do midnight because my electricity plan is free night's and weekends. I'd pay an arm and a leg to charge during peak hours on the Texas grid. I'm exploring solar and power walls as well.

Another reason to charge at night is it is cooler. Charging generates heat and it will have to work extra hard in an overheated garage to keep the battery temps in range. If I charge during the day, my charge rate gets reduced to 25A after a couple hours due to overheating (top red LED on wall charger blinking). I set it to complete at 4am and set my daily limit to 70%.

Thanks! Calling tomorrow to figure out plan
Don't assume that a ToD rate is cheaper. In many cases it isn't.
ToD rates are designed to be revenue neutral, which means that they should cost about the same. The advantage of a ToD rate to the utility is that they are designed to reduce afternoon peal loads.

And that often means that you'll need to cut back your A/C on the hot afternoons.

Can you setup charge on solar? Our 2020 X still does not have this but I use it on the Cybertruck every day.

I do the same. Daily it chills around 60% if we have extra solar. If we need the battery for a trip I have it finish the charge within 15 minutes of when we want to leave so it never sits above 60% for more than a couple hours. I know people are going to say it doesn’t hurt to charge to 80% daily but I don’t need it working from home.

Our M3LR '21 is set to charge to 80% at midnight. Unless we have a big trip we are going on and want to go higher. Will treat the CT the same way.
