A common complaint with EA chargers is they provide much much slower charge rates than they are rated for. The general theory is that when the thermal sensors in the connector fail, the power is limited to a safe value that will not overheat.

Extension cables would have no sensors, and no cooling.

we have installed a bunch of DC chargers in addition to solar, batteries and level 2s
I promise you whatever that is is junk

there is no way to safe way manage the heat or amperage involved in DCFC via an extension cord and somebody would inevitably get charcoal’d

I've had my eye on this 3rd party Tesla SC 14 foot "Extension cord" for awhile. They always seem to be out of stock. It says the cable is good for up to 350 kW, but the wire in the photo looks pretty small in diameter...So I don't know...But the idea itself is promising...

?

Which is why that "supercharging extension" cord has not ever actually been for sale. They probably realized how dangerous it is and didn't want the liability. It shows as out of stock, but has never been in stock and they never sold any.

Gen 3 Superchargers put out 250kW, which is about 400 volts at 625 amps. A dumb extension with no cooling and no temperature sensors that will minimize heat and voltage drop would be thick and heavy. And an extension would add two more points of failure with the additional port and socket.

The one who simply responded "no" to the question has it right.

This was a problem solved decades ago for gas stations, because people would drive over the hoses... and especially the really long hoses found at large vehicle fuel pumps (semi's, RVs, etc).

Why do they not just realize this problem has been solved and use that solution?

The long hose has a retracting reel attached part way along that can pull with enough force to hold up the weight of the hose... but not so much you cannot pull against it.

Sure, a longer cooled cable would be much more expensive (as the pumps to circulate the coolant would have to push it much further and up and down against gravity), but fuel pumps handle it.

Sure, not all need to be that long, but that is not the case in a lot of refueling stations... just like not all (but maybe 10%?) do not need to be drive thru charging spots.

Reels are expensive, and winding the cable wears it out faster.

Not as fast as being run over, but that's another reason why Tesla uses as short of cables as possible.

There R plenty of pull up side chargers now. I saw one last week in SC ,it had a Airstream Bambi in tow.
I wonder if tsla would make like a 25’ extension so you can park nearby. It’d have to be rated to be driven over
