I mounted the Dish high up on the Glass Roof so as not to hit the head of anyone sitting in the middle seat. I think I will be reversing the Mini compared to what you see in the pictures, so the wire ports point to the back seats, as I've been consistently seeing alignment alerts during testing. I'll keep you updated.
Any updates on your testing with different orientations or positions?

I never did end up switching the orientation. I went on a cross-country trip soon after and had 99% uptime.

Now, driving around in Orange County, I get an occasional disconnect, maybe every 20-30 minutes, but I have to figure it's just all the different directions and overpasses, trees, buildings, etc. that are causing these.

For me, it's not perfect, but it's pretty damn impressive when you step back and consider that the whole fast Internet-from-Space thing is happening while moving.

One other update to report: I kinda wish I hadn't used suction cups to mount the mini.

Earlier this year, before the mini installation, I tinted the glass roof. I love it, the heat rejection is incredible, and I asked the Tint guys if there would be a problem using a suction cup mount, and they said there wouldn't be an issue.

Fast forward past the hot summer, I took the truck in for service recently, and they needed access to the top trip (peak of the triangle). I said, " Here, let me remove the suction cups for better access". I released the suction locks, but the mount did not come loose. I tugged at it a bit and could see that the rubber suction cups had melted into the tint, forming a permanent bond. I didn't pull too hard as I was concerned that the tint would get damaged, so it looks like the mount is now permanent lol. 🤷‍♂️.

I never really planned on removing Starlink anyway, but now I am toying with the idea of adding a roof rack over the top glass, which would block the view of the mini where it's at now.

There are some automotive paints the suction cups will permanently meld with if left on too long.

It's good to know the tint films can be suction cupped to, but they can't have the suction cups stay in place. You might try a heat gun to warm it up to release the suction cup.
