Speculation time! Joe Tegtmeyer tells us the Cybertruck and Model Y assembly lines are now down a couple weeks for line updates, maintenance, etc. What updates do you think will happen now? Will we see any body changes? New vehicles?

The new base Dual Motor AWD shouldn't need any assembly line updates, but the line is to be down.

A Model Y Long may need some assembly line changes.

A Cyburban/CyberSUV would require line upgrades. Will they be done now?

Could we see a Cybercab production push these two weeks? The CT and MY assembly line workers need something to do while their normal lines are down.

Generally Tesla takes the lines down for small tweaks to increase production efficiency and precision, not to add features or change the styling. They are all about making the cars better and less expensive, not making changes for the sake of making them "new" or to boost sales. That only happens infrequently, during refreshes.

I'm guessing the production workers get a break from work. I know whenever I had a 40 hour/week job it was awful, just enough time to eat, sleep, take care of things like laundry, cleaning, shopping, and sleep, only to wake up and do it all over again. I actually preferred jobs that consumed 100% of my time (80-120 hours/week) with just enough time off to grab some sleep. 40 hours/week was just torture and every day off was appreciated.

MY Juniper update had a line shutdown. It required lots of changes. Small to medium tweaks get phased in on the fly. It's the bigger changes like new models which require lots of assembly line equipment changes that get shutdowns. Elon has been hinting a lot lately.

could be a surprise early run for the CyberSUV, who knows... the first time we hear about it, could be as they are coming of the line, might need a run for crash testing, of course, before announcing it. Joe will of course see this and report :)

Tooling up for fresh Cybertruck styling to help eliminate vibrating door panel complaints😁

My build was 7/2025, no door vibration even at 90mph
Only heard it once and that was with 50 mph cross winds when o was driving 70

I’m good with all hardware except our wishlist which is a seperate thread

away from the assembly line in GT
Some software updates would be nice, non FSD:

-control bed lights with torneau/tailgate closed
Keep them on

-one button ON from the phone app for preconditioning

-from the phone app, map touch for nav, send to truck, for a specific location on the map, like we can do in the truck

I may be missing your specific use case, but those are enabled now:

Bed lights are controllable from center screen, but shut off with the truck. Tent mode gives more options.

Climate on is a one button option from the open app (might also be a iPhone action)

Google maps -> share -> Tesla will send the waypoint to the truck

The app doesn't allow clicking generic spots, but you can click pined points of interest then send that to the truck after tapping navigate

Dry battery electrode 4680, with 150kwh pack and 420 Mike range!
Tesla has done a battery update in S and X every 18 months to 3 years. Cybertruck is over due, and the DBE is solved, so maybe?!?

He'll, if we're fantasizing I'll say 600 mile range and 10 minute charge time. And they do a recall on my PCs so I get my money back.

They could be reallocating some of the lines to Optimus and Cybercab.

I doubt they are currently allocating space to Optimus and Cybercab. Both of their initial lines have yet to be validated.

They could store a small batch of CyberSUVs inside or in the parking ramp. Crash testing could be done at night. We'd never know if they move the results elsewhere before morning.;) Maybe it has already happened. . .

A maintenance shutdown lowers the number of workers and thus a prime time to play with new designs. So as the line is modified to do the CyberSUV, run a few off for crash testing and other validation testing. When break is done, the production of Cybertruck resumes to fill the burst in orders. We could get a new CT battery. Dare I pray for that? CyberSUV would need a bigger battery. I've wondered if CyberSUV would get body panels like Cybercab is getting. They would then not need a paint shop and could have better aerodynamics.

An interesting thing is modern computer modeling can predict nearly exactly how the vehicle will crumple in an impact. I doubt much new crash testing would be needed for a go ahead for a CyberSUV design.

I'd gladly loose the back seat under seat area to more battery capacity.
