With Y being manufactured in the same factory, there is no way CT is not going to hear about Camp mode. I have a hard time believing a vehicle that size will not try to accommodate it some how. What are your ideas on how it can happen without a full pass-through? I am fairly sure as wide as CT is, two people of 5’7” or shorter can sleep in front and back seat as is but how would you make it more comfortable for more people? With front seat reclining flat? Lower seats and have a Pass-through to fronk? Somehow using partial pass through to vault? Skip the front and only use Vault? How would you design and camp with your CT if you could not have a full pass-through to vault, have a tent or a camper?

This is kind of the question of the year for many of us.

Not a show stopper for me, but it's definitely going to seriously change the way I use the truck.

In order of preference for me personally:

* Full Mid-Gate with fold down rear seats. The perfect camp setup IMO... but I think unlikely due to sliding cover design.
* Fold flat front seats. Combined with some kind of air mattress setup you could lay flat in the cab.
* Climate controlled vault. This would still be nice, but would likely need to be combined with a tent or something to be really enjoyable.

I'm over 5'7" so the sideways thing is out of the question. Plus, how do you snuggle?

I don't imagine that Tesla is thinking, "how many can we sleep?" Probably more like, "how can we make the vault awesome?"
Personally I don't want the mid gate because it would be really complex with many moving parts in combination with the vault cover--and we know the cover isn't going anywhere. I'm just nervous about how well that'd work in the long run.

You are correct in that CT has to be a great truck before it has to be great at anything else and as bad as I want the mid-gate, I would take reliability over it as well (if it had to be a choice) but as far as camping in CT goes, Elon knows people want this and remember he said we want to kick butt in as many areas as we can.

Tesla has made it clear they are prioritizing simple and easy to manufacture. This is why I said the midgate is unlikely, given the existing design, adding the midgate makes it more complex.

I still want the midgate, but I doubt it's coming. In order to deliver the Cybertruck as promised, new features cannot add to the cost. The only way I see that happening is if they can find a magic bullet to get the mid-gate working without extra complexity/ cost.

I am really hoping for a mid-gate option. If you are realistically going to use the vault for a camp setup, it has to have some connection to the cab. (Windows/light) Sleeping in the closed vault would be doable but not a great experience unless there is a clear see through vault option. (Or windows on the sails) On the other hand, we have seen the "official" vault extended camper pop up and there will be many 3rd party options for this. This would work for Summer camping just fine as many truck rigs have something similar, including roof mounted pop ups and such.

I will be using this truck for adventure trips mostly, Summer and Winter, so having versatility like Rivian is of high priority to me. (I cannot afford the Rivian, and CT looks better IMO.) So I am really looking forward to see/hear more about the options. Cheers!

I believe Elon has already confirmed that the vault will be climate controlled. So aside from having reach-in access via the window, I'm not sure how useful that'd be.

Somewhat anecdotal but to the OPs point about about user height and sleeping sideways...I'm about 5'11. I can sleep sideways in the front of my F150. I do this often during bow season. It's not ideal for several reasons, but in terms of comping comfort it's do-able.

I'm sure the CT will provide me with a better option.

If you do not fit, open a car door
