In the January February timeframe one of Joes videos showed crates of trimotor rear castings There was around a dozen castings on the ground, an opened wood crate with castings in it and several smashed up crates. Joe theorized they must be sending them off to service centers for parts. I think for some reason they can’t make them with the current presses and they’re having them sandcasted somewhere and milling them to spec and those castings on the ground were being shipped in not out. It would explain the very slow rate of production.

That's really interesting. But I wish I was able to ask a question to confirm! Either way, sucks for us.

I just got my VIN tonight, really threw me off, no text or anything, just did my usual app refresh and boom it told me "Accept Order Changes". VIN was there, in the 17k range, with the ability to designate insurance (agent won't be back in until Monday), and to make payment. I recall seeing advice here to just get a certified check vs wire ahead of time for cash payment?

Super excited to finally move forward, the past 6 months since my order was finalized has felt like an eternity haha! Hope you all are next, seems like December orders are almost done!

Thank you! I did yeah, there were I think two screens to read/accept, then I had to go into the order details which now lets me select and fill out insurance / payment. I already submitted the VIN to my insurance agent, just waiting for his office to open.

For payment, I recall people saying do certified check vs wiring ahead of time in part in the event you have a critical delivery issue that can't be fixed on the spot requiring rejection. Going to have to search the forums to find them again.

I'm 12/28, and trying to only check the app once per day...

I surprisingly didn't get a notification, or at least I didn't see the notification if I did get one. Its become part of my morning routine to check the app and I checked it that morning and there it was!

I ordered the day before you (1/17; RN 112842), and I'm picking mine up from Tysons Corner. Still no VIN here. My understanding is that CTs going to Tysons and Richmond are being transported from a train depot in Baltimore.

I'm wondering if Tesla is prioritizing people who are going through Tesla to get a loan (e.g., possibly due to extra profitability from a kickback from the bank). I've also wondered if they're considering our safety scores in an attempt to prioritize delivery to safer drivers.

I realize I'm probably thinking too deeply about this, and a bit of it could be luck.

Ok small bit of news. I got my VIN on Sunday and went to the service center today on Monday to see where it is and I’m happy to report it is in town at a holding lot. They excitedly told me I could come get it tomorrow if I was ready but I told them I think you have a hold on delivery for something with the wiper motor to which he went to check and sure enough I’m stuck now waiting for a motor. So that sucks for me but the good news is for others waiting for a VIN they seem to be assigning them after transport lately because the other beast that was delivered locally was delivered 2 days after a vin assignment. Hang in there!

I did, super easy as just one click. Not the best rate, but I will pay it off earlier anyway so it won't make much difference.
