I know its not going to brake, my foot’s on the gas pedal, what a stupid alert.
Giving an alert, and the reason for the alert, is a vitally important part of the driver understanding that they are using the system in a way that is not intended. How could that possible be a "stupid alert"?

Thanks for all the replies. It’s apparent that not everyone has the same level of nagging/strikes. I wish I could understand what affects that. I’ve watched soooo many YouTubers that turn away to their 2nd cameras, change routing, etc., and NEVER get a warning.

BTW - I have tried sunglasses, with no apparent effect. I tried setting up a camera to show what’s going on, but after starting FSD, I got immediate strike when I checked phone (DJI Mimo) for proper exposure. Maybe 2-3s tops.

How much cumulative time have you had your phone in your hand while you received the strikes?

And be honest in your response, please.
I acknowledge if my phone is in my hand, it’s an auto warning/strike IMMEDIATELY, but the level of scrutiny is still off the hook, with no phone. I set up a camera to watch, and my eyes are darting over the horizon, and L/R mirrors like a crazy man running from the cops. It’s exhausting. If my eyes stay focused and still on the car in front of me, I get a warning, and it’s not audible!!! If I don’t respond, its a strike.

How many times have you engaged the system and held your phone in your hand? Or used it at all? It may be that the system has flagged you as high risk from the start and is far more sensitive. Otherwise, you should do a camera recalibration and see if that helps.

I'm trying to think of other factors that could be at play here. Do you have abnormally dark colored eyes? Are you of Asian descent?

Have never gotten a strike, not even sure how they happen.

That said, I have seen the warning which makes using Spotify or doing anything in the nav challenging. I prefer the approach on the Model S/X UI where you can drag the music panel to the driver's side vs. the rigid UI approach driven by the single screen. The problem with the one-screen, no configurability, approach is that many controls are out of sight/reach for the driver.

Tesla should really move the nav/music to the left (Driver's side in the US) of the screen instead of the useless FSD visualization. Put the visualization on the right, out of the way.
Thank you for testing out the RH version for us, much appreciated ?

Take it to Tesla service for this mysterious strike out problem and report back.

"Here is a piece of very cool software for you for $8,000... Oh sorry, you've been a bad boy and can't play with it anymore." - that's pretty insane from the consumer standpoint.
Add to that, that we are providing R&D work for them as well.

Funnily enough you're making the same assumption as some Tesla people I talked to. I didn't order a FS truck, I ordered a base truck. I had an option at the time of ordering (Oct 2024) to have FSD for $7K, but given they had a trial going on I thought I'd try it first so I placed the order without it. Then less than a week later (after I tested the trial FSD) I tried to reach out to Tesla and purchase the FSD at that price, but there was no way to do it anymore.

I'm sure they're covered under the ToS from the legal standpoint. I am just saying that's a new weird concept in sales - you purchase a product, and then the vendor says "nope, you violated conditions of use so we'll disable it." So you sort of still own it, but you can just brag and not harvest any utility.
Did you go into 'upgrades' on the Tesla App? I think that is where you would find it.

It would be worth a few grand if it could actually drive you places while you're taking a nap. We're anywhere from 2 to... 20 years from that though :D I was just driving using regular Cruise Control and the truck kept telling me my cameras are obstructed. Yes, it's dark on an unlit highway, it's neither snowing or raining, cameras are clean, but the video subsystem is seemingly degraded just from the lack of day or artificial light.
I have used FSD on mountain and country roads at night with no illumination except from the headlights and road reflectors and have never had a problem with that. I 'have' been recently having a lot of 'camera obstructed' warnings and have already had 1 SC visit and have another for this coming week...to clean the windshield on the inside of the car. That is all a recent software 'update' and I suspect that Tesla will ditch it in an upcoming release because they clearly overdid it and it is probably costing them a lot of SC time.

Driving on public roads is a privilege.

Also I keep wondering... you've been here since 2020, and you're driving a Mazda. Got nothing better to do than to join every EV owners forum ?
There is no cause to be rude or to attack. @Crissa rides a Zero and has been a very active and positive influence here.

"I got immediate strike when I checked phone"
Why does a service request need to be created? He received the strike because he checked his phone. This is expected behavior.

It does almost seem random at times and that is frustrating. I for one am pretty damned tired of the car giving out forward collision warnings of cars that are parked or while on curves for cars in the opposite lane. It seems to me that if object collision detection is part of FSD then FSD is making a lot of incorrect predictions and we only know it from these types of examples. If object collision detection is not a part of FSD then it is clearly not ready for prime time. All of this business with eye detection is part of the larger set of issues with FSD, navigation, etc. and is definitely a work in progress. Is it, in general, getting better? Yes, absolutely. Is it 'ready' for unsupervised driving? Absolutely not.

I think it unwise to watch what YouTubers do except for entertainment value. They are a privileged set and if you think that any of them are being totally object and honest then that is on you.
