I went on a 200 mile round trip to the doctor's office with my brother this morning. A while after getting home from an almost perfect ride we decided to leave my house again to go grab a bit to eat at a nearby restaurant. On the way home we arrived at a small county road intersection with a Farm to Market road, (speed limit 70mph), and the car tuned left to take head to my house. The problem is that when it turned left it did not cross over to the right lane to get me home but it turned into the oncoming traffic lane! After building up a high level of confidence with my CT it brought me back down to Earth by making this strange error. You still have to maintain a high level of vigilance when driving in Supervised mode, no matter how far along we have come. Luckily the car approaching us in the oncoming traffic lane was a few hundred yards away and I never felt like we were ever in danger. Of course I intervened and left a message that the truck made a left turn into an oncoming traffic lane. I can't hardly wait for the updates that bring us to unsupervised full self driving. It was another great day driving the truck with a significant disappointment.

The left turn into the wrong lane happens with me as well, even without intersections. Basically any 90 degree left turn with no oncoming traffic.

I take it as a quirk, and am waiting for the FSD update that will one day fix this

Same exact issue here, one particular intersection has done this a couple of times. I'm confident this will be resolved soon

Did you guys accidentally choose UK instead of the US in the self-driving mode selection window? ;)

Kidding aside, glad everyone was paying attention and self-corrected safely.

It was very strange when it happened. I gave it a few seconds to see if it would correct on its own but with the car coming my way I decided to intervene and move over to the right lane. I was shocked because the truck has been doing so well up to this point. I hope that the Tesla team figures this one out soon and gets it fixed.

My supervision vigilance is elevated on every left turn.

I have the same feeling with mine. I have a route designated favorite 4 miles away. Before it goes with almost no issues, it always like to turn right at the first 2 intersections near my house which I had to always intervene. I don't know why it does that. I does not do that coming home.

However, when I reach home, it does not stop at my address in front of the house. It keeps going past so I have to step on the brake and reverse.

I will keep using Supervised fsd but IMHO it may take at least another couple of years before it will be perfected.

Yeah. It’s a mixed bag. I use it 95% and falling to 90%. In high traffic areas (Nashville downtown, Pigeon Forge on a holiday) it’s just easier and less stressful to take over.

Ex: I try to be patient but when there is a right hand turn in 0.5 miles in a 3 lane one way road, and it puts the left blinker on to pass traffic, (Standard mode) I KNOW it can make it back over to the right lane in time, but only by being “THAT guy”, cutting back across 3 lanes to stop and turn. I just take over.

Ex. #2: Driving in Chattanooga, it suddenly wants to jump off the highway- no explanation. I’m like WTH… but just let it go. Sure enough, it cuts a complete back up on I-40 taking all these fun, country back-roads. Double jackpot on that ride! No warning in the Navigation app. Just assumes I’m the dumbass freeloader that I am. Winning!

I am never off guard with FSD, but am usually in Ahh more than I’m disappointed.
