My experience, the cybertruck has great visibility. Not sure what is the lousy part. I guess if you don’t look at the screen for the rear, you can call it lousy visibility. The cons are stupid. Oh my god, finger prints!! What does feelings got to do with the cons. Tell me what is undeveloped or unfinished.
Why are fingerprints a bigger deal than door dings and scratches? Show me the other trucks after 12 months of use. Can't wipe away panel damage.

They may have won empirically on paper but the Cybertruck wins hand down on the intangible factor. It's the future.

Yeah crazy world of media. I think the cybertruck is the future, everything else seems outdated.

Not really. They don't like Tesla because Tesla doesn't give them any ad $.

Why would they bite the hands that feed them? More importantly: Why would MSM be "nice" or fair to Tesla?

Musk is disrupting 3 separate industries all at once: transportation, energy, and media. So of course he will get hate on. The onus is on smart consumers to see BS from facts.
Motortrend named the Tesla Model S the ULTIMATE car of the year. Did Tesla pay them for that?

This was back in 2019, before Elon started disrupting the media.

Back then, legacy automaker also thought that Tesla would remain a niche player if they even survive.

We are in 2024 and you won't see any fair outlook by the mainstream media on Tesla or Elon.
They rank the 2024 Model 3 #1 in the luxury compact sedan category above the BMW 3 series. They also called the highland "EV benchmark". And Model Y is #2 in the luxury compact SUV. Sounds pretty fair to me...

Yeah but what is their best EV ranking? Why isn't Tesla in the mainstream category?

The #1 and 2# rankings I listed are their mainstream categories.

In the EV rankings, Model 3 and Y are #1 and Model S and X are #2 in their respective categories.
https://www.motortrend.com/style/electric/
So Tesla isn't in the "Best Electric Cars" category. Nor is it in the "Best Electric Compact" category but both Ioniq5 and Mach-E are.

It's then way down in the "Best Luxury" category but that makes no sense, as Model Y and the Model 3 are both cheaper than the competitors.

If you can't see the bias then that's OK. But the bias is plain to see.

can’t take these MT writers seriously when they can’t even get the most basic facts straight

one example: “its unimpressive turning circle means it doesn’t put its four-wheel steering to good use the way the Hummer does”

fact Hummer is SHORTER and has a turning radius that Is several feet BIGGER than the Cybertruck! It’s under 42 feet while Hummer is ~45ft!

No credibility…

Edit: as others have pointed out the Hummer actually has 2 modes and you must shift into 4-wheel steer mode (not available for all drive modes) in order to get a tighter turning circle than the CT. Nevertheless MT’s own spec sheet lists Hummer at 44.9 which is higher than CTs 41.9 (which unlike the Hummer is Standard).

EXACTLY! But this seems to be the trend in media lately...never letting FACTS get in the way of a good story...

BTW, please don't think I'm a conspiracy theory guy. I'm just pointing this out, since I've seen this time and again in stories that pertain to domains that I have vast experience in. Ones that are based on hard numbers, data, and facts, not opinions or philosophies.

LOL, pricing isn't the only thing that dictates whether a car is luxury or not. Tesla offers so many nice features standard, not to mention the tech is miles ahead of others. The base model Ioniq5 and Mach E don't even have sunroofs. Also you don't put the same car in multiple categories, otherwise what's the point of having separate categories.
