I was one of the early adopters who cancelled when the 500 mile CT didn't materialize. Then after Elon explained that there are so many superchargers out that it wasn't needed I listened. He's right, range anxiety is in the heads of non EV owners. Now that I have one it's a non issue. Now the price being high factor? Not really when you consider steer by wire, 4 wheel steering, stainless steel heavy duty body, air suspension, sound system and FSD! Compare to other trucks and the price is cheap. See below.

Being able to supply your home with power during an outage for days is priceless and way overlooked.

yeah that RWD flop created a great deal for an AWD.

I think most of use here knew that the RWD was going to be a disaster at the price it was being sold for.
Yea, surprised they sold any at that pricepoint. So much more truck in regular AWD for a little more.

In fairness the Raptor's biggest edge on all of these vehicles is the range and TOWING RANGE. The Raptor is NOT the truck I would get but for towing which many truck owners do it is WAY ahead.

I don’t drive mine a lot and have thought of selling it many many times. I don’t get flipped off so much now but for awhile it was bad. I wish I had waited for 0% financing and free supercharging but it is what it is. Having the car power the house is cheaper than a generator, too.

that all being said…when I do take it out for a spin, it makes me smile. Not certain it’s a 120K smile…but close

The design and brand stigma is often a way of coping for people that couldn't afford it.
[looks at bank account "thing is ugly i didn't want it anyway"]
But I think that will change as 60k is VERY affordable for what you get vs other trucks at 60k

The question is, what happens after 10 days??????
yeah as you get down in price you open up new buyers. 60k becomes affordable for more people.

My friend would love one but his budget is 30k.

Yea lower the price goes the more people have access to it, 60k should open it up to a good chunk of small business owners, just tough as the towing rage is tight for some and supercharger towing is and will be a nightmare for a while.

This is going to create a whole new mess possibly, deliveries out to Sept, BUUUUTTTT is this because people are throwing $250 down as an FSD transfer hedge, a just in case it goes back to $70 hedge.

Is this going to be like the initial orders where those of us who reserved the first day were still 300,000+ in line and wouldn't get our trucks until 2028. Or are these orders going all the way through, I hope the later is the case.

You understand how averages work, right?

There are a ton of trucks that cost over $100k, even over $120k, but Ford and Chevy mostly sell trucks between $40k-55k.

According to Grok (I know, not super reliable) these are "between 70-80% of new trucks sold"
  • Base full-size pickup models often start around $38,000–$45,000 MSRP.
  • Well-equipped mid-range trucks typically cost $45,000–$55,000.

As all sales data that is released show the $80k+ ICE trucks sit on lots longer than the lower end models. Ford sells more XLT than any other trim, this starts out at $44k and goes up to $60k.

So the EV pickups from Tesla, Rivian, the loaded Silverado, and Hummer are priced to the Platinum/TRX/Raptor market, which is MUCH smaller than the overall truck market. Then you factor in the BEV truck market is smaller than that. Elon even acknowledged when he launched the CT to take Ford's F150 numbers the CT would need to be cheaper than equivalent options. Obviously that wasn't possible.
I recently purchased an F250 for my farm. $39k out the door with taxes and reg. 1.5 doors, crew cab, rubber floors. Gas V-8 engine. But it does have electric windows, radio, a/c standard.
