Tesla still considers demand for their cars to be infinite, they keep lowering prices either as part of their mission for a sustainable future, to stay competitive, or just because they're still run by engineers.

They price the Model S&X to cover R&D for 3&Y (at least in theory). The question for me is: do they consider the CT more luxury like S&X or the "working man's truck" like they originally targeted, in which case we should see a massive price reduction?

Their price target with the Model 3 is a Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic (~$25k). Obviously they're not quite there yet, but pretty dang close. If the CT is in the same category, they'll target $30k (Tacoma).

Please, I don't want to hear about how a CT is more like a RAM or Lariat, you're missing my point entirely. The model 3 is more like a BMW than a corolla, the price is the difference.

Tesla is hoping to move the leftover FS trucks without incentives?

They are most likely cancelled online orders from buyers who had second thoughts after the trucks were delivered to the SC’s.

This blows my mind...I put in an order 2 weeks ago and still don't have a VIN. I'm in the Midwest, so I wouldn't think factory distance would be a factor. Crazy to see so many people being able to get one so quick while I'm still sitting here pressing the refresh button on my app daily.

Oh well, I waited 4 years I suppose another week or so can't hurt. Ironically the waiting is harder once the order was placed!

Same story here. The inventory models are all FS though.

I just entered a ton of zip codes looking for a Cybertruck ready for immediate pickup all over the country and can't find more than six, all down by Georgia/Florida (it might only be four). That's it! None in LA, San Diego. Portland, Seattle, Salt Lake City, New York, Pennsylvania, anywhere in the north 2/3rds of the country, you can't even get one in Austin, TX or Houston/Galveston area!

Yet we have this narrative that there is a demand problem! Yeah right! If you want one of the last new Foundation Series, you better act fast, and be willing to travel to Florida. Some demand problem! And the only way to buy a non-Foundation Series is to order it and wait. Sometimes over a month or more.

The number of false narratives promoted on this owner's forum really is astounding.

There is the whole one year no resale clause. So suspect the first used ones will show in Q1 2025 or later. It took years for used Plaids to become available on Tesla Used. Unless there is an impending S/X refresh that might compel some CT owners to trade in it may be a little while still.

As for the demos, they can, and are, sold as new since they have not been titled. As recently as this past July 2024 you could buy a new 2023 Model 3 pre-refresh listed as New on Tesla’s site.
If they did a Model X with steer by wire and ct style steering I’d be down for it!

I suspect that was the plan in 2021 when Tesla launched the refresh with the yoke. Probably couldn’t complete the dev and testing in time and Elon said “launch it” so it rolled out with the yoke and conventional steering. Almost guaranteed that the next S/X refresh - it’s been three years now - will come with steer by wire.

I'm now almost 5 weeks still no VIN. Just patiently waiting.

They only show you ones near you. They don't like shipping them.

And the most likely rejects are from people who didn't get their finances in order in time, or didn't show up. They can't sell defects without it being in the description.

I don't know that we will see a S/X refresh anytime soon, if ever. They are just such low selling vehicles. Elon said they are keeping them for sentimental reasons. They have the highest cost to make and sell the least amount. There are Model 3/Y variants that will likely take over those segments (larger sedan and SUV/minivan).

Just fyi, when you guys see "three or four". You're not seeing inventory count. You're seeing configurations.

Clicking through will take you to availability, and that still doesn't show actual numbers, just distance/time.

Will be very interesting to see Q4 deliveries. So far, CT sales have largely (almost exclusively) been those who would have otherwise bought an S or X - the drop in S & X sales over the past year is very close to CT delivery numbers. It makes sense given the price bracket of the FS vehicles.

Now non-FS are being delivered with relatively minimal (looks like 2-3 months at most) delay, Canada & Mexico sales are opening up, and leasing has begun, we will see if the CT can push its sales outside the S/X volume envelope. Is there demand (nonFS is really only a major discount if you're not interested in FSD)? Is there supply (are continued production/cost issues why the price remains high - or is Tesla simply trying to squeeze every penny out of the high-end market before taking it downmarket to higher volumes)?

Exciting stuff. I'll be staying tuned.
