Elon did not say how the Cybertruck was unprofitable. I think the general consensus is that they are heavily amortizing the startup production costs. So, while they are losing money on each truck sold, they are gaining ground on startup expenses. Its not like they are spending more on the parts to build the trucks, which could create perpetual losses. Its probably an accounting trick, to not make foundation customers feel like they were over charged.
