Delivery Day…

was hard to see in the sunlight at the Delivery Center under the smudges, but the rep did take pictures and noted them.. I also took these as a followup after first wash at home.

That’s blows. It seems strange they would “buy it back” instead of just deciding to change the panels out? The other post with the rust is way worse and they didn’t buy back. Where you going to wrap it? If so I might let them try again knowing you are pissed and it’s the second time they might put there best guys on it this time? I don’t know how they would etch the logo back in on the fender though

Your truck should be up to a Lemon Law condition for them to buy back. The requirements vary from state to state.

It's not strange, they have a bunch of stock lined up. They can move it to the refurbish depot where it's less time sensitive to fix.

Yeah but then can they sell it for full price as a “new truck”? Seems like it will be a big loss given the labor plus the resale

It’s very easy to see scratches on a Stainless steel if you pay real close attention. I also saw a bunch of minor scratches when I took delivery. I have put service request but I doubt they will fix all of them. The question is how much it bothers you. The way I have convinced myself is it’s a truck and not a museum piece. As long as the damage is not going to compromise safety and doesn’t impact the appearance significantly, just roll with it. If you use it like a real truck, it’ll eventually get scratches and smudges. That’s the best part of CT. Hard F Steel is so durable. It’ll stand the test of time. If the appearance bothers me in the future, I’ll just wrap it. After spending $127K, the last thing I need to worry about is the 2” scratch that’s visible only at 45 degrees angle in a bright sunlight! Here’s one such scratch on my 4 day old Beast:

I had a scratch like this at delivery that Tesla swapped out the panel. It was the hood panel of the frunk. Unfortunately that panel is part of the frunk and the entire frunk lid has to be replaced. Got it back with missing and misaligned weather stripping. 3 visits later and a about 2 months total time it is all good. Not saying anyone here's experience will be the same but just keep this in mind and do a careful review of all repairs, especially any trim/cosmetic as well as the rest of the condition of your vehicle when you get it back.
