I feel like people automatically think EV's depreciate massively against ICE cars. Some are not taking into account that you need to add the tax credit to typical depreciation, because a large portion of buyers will qualify for it. That means your true depreciation calculation should begin with the price post credit. In other words $80k - $7,500 = $72.5k. Upon driving off the lot you instantly drop roughly 15% if not more. So, IMO a strong, maybe generous, trade-in value for stripped down DM CT would be $61,625.

I agree. It’s all about getting people to “click” on your published story.

Negative stories historically get more views than positive ones. No production vehicle has generated more negative stories than the Cybertruck. Journalism has never been worse than it is today.

CT FOUNDATION outdoor is over 110k, no supercharging, driven 1 year and 2 month, less tha 6k miles, no accident, no damage. Anyone can tell why it's so low.

Seems like a decent price. They need to be able to resell it and make money. Tesla typically sells through auction.

What were you expecting? You can get a new AWD for 72k with tax credit. The 8k for FSD can be transferred as well.

uh, that's great.

You may have paid $100K but likely received a $2,500 shop credit, $8,000 for FSD transfer and $3,000 of accessories so your buy price is effectively $86,500. 21.7% depreciation after a year isn't bad at all, especially for an EV.

I agree, I plan driving either CT or I die, in fact it would be good to go down under in CT than wooden casket.
"Casket? Just toss me in the vault, close the tonneau and throw some dirt on top!"

Six thousand years later, the site is uncovered by archaeologists...

This must have been some early 21st century burial custom for kings and emperors, look at the exquisite stainless steel, that beefy suspension and .... it still drives!

Part of why I went for the Beast is i knew what the tax credit would do to the resale value. Since the Beast isn't eligible for the credit, it should theoretically hold its value more than the AWD, unless it ever dipped below $80k. When I subtract all the stuff I get to keep, like the powershare equipment and $4k credit, assuming you buy another Tesla and get the FSD transfer, my one-year depreciation is 23%. That's not so bad!

For EVs in general, there just isn't any used $25k-$30k EVs. The used tax credit at $25k essentially mandates any vehicle that would be worth $30k is now worth $24,999. Different scenario, but just like the AWD credit for new buyers, these tax credits have huge impact on the used market. I have a M3P I am considering moving on from, so I know, this credit probably is costing me $5k.

The CT is the first vehicle that I've ever purchased new. Depreciation is why I never purchased a new vehicle previously.

For the CT, it's worth it. I will sell this thing after it is out of warranty and the battery pack dies, no sooner. If FSD develops as Tesla is saying, then maybe I'll keep this thing forever and just replace the battery pack.
