Good job. I’ve always wondered why a third party just didn’t produce a similar product and we just disconnect the original charger. Should be simple and the cords could be well hidden. I guess I could try too.
Does anyone know if the original charger could be disconnected without issue?

In previous threads, somebody mentioned Tesla has a fix for the overheating and will do a service call to your house to fix it :)

Interesting but I don't want to take away my rear passengers ability to charge. Instead why not use the product that provides ports inside the front center console and run your wires to those ports? Also you could run your wires through the rubber pad and under. You've given me some things to think about...

OMG! Just watching the video of the CT being violated hurts. I'd rather get a Mag battery and move on.

This is crazy. So don't use the factory run a bunck of wires have these items sit on top of the factory design and done. No thanks. If anything what I would be able to accept is a version that doesn't need to be wired in spearately. So it sits on top of the OEM, moves your phone to the ideal position to allow it to charge. No added power wires or anything like that. Similiar to the ones for ear pod chargers.

Did they mention a service article, part number, etc? My local service center (The Woodlands, TX) is telling me there is no long term fix and I would have pay out of pocket for a new charger!?!?

Please let us know if the fix works. I just got out of a service appointment and they didn’t agree to replace it. Saying they couldn’t reproduce the problem and didn’t know for a fact that the new gen5 charger is fixing this issue.

Mine was replaced last week, seems to have made no difference. Still lots of heat, phone still overheats. It’s my only complaint from day one.

I got the new charger replaced under warranty. It’s better but still sucks. I would just use a cable. It doesn’t seem to get super hot but I got 4% in over an hour which to me is useless.

That really is unacceptable. Does anyone know if we can just unplug the front wireless chargers?

The hub I’m using is mounted under the rear screen. (See the link in my post)
It has 4 ports.

My setup leaves 2 ports open for backseat passengers. Inserted USB-A-USB-C adapters to maximize cord compatibility.
Currently driver side MagSafe charger is plugged into the 20v port. I’ll probably use a USB-C splitter to provide faster charging for the front seat passenger.

Tesla Service just told me it’s either my case( which I don’t have a case) sunlight, or misplacement of my phone. Does anyone not have this issue? If so what phone do you have? I thought it was because of my older iPhone 12pro. I think one time I saw in the forums a post saying it didn’t happen to their non iPhones and some said their newer iPhones didn’t have the problem.

Tesla also said their new heat sink and charger wouldn’t help the phone heating. And if I wanted it replaced I’d have to pay for it. See this infuriating service note.
