Its STURDY!
I also felt that $250 was steep. But as I look back now after months of use....I absolutely do not regret the purchase. It was money well spent.
I think it really depends on your use of the bed in the truck. If you never lean anything over the tailgate, dont buy this. If you use your truck as a truck, this will keep your tailgate looking new.
I'm a sucker, I ordered it. Will check it out. What's the worst thing that happens? I waste $250?

I live in Phoenix. Does this thing get noticeably hotter than the plastic one? I imagine yes.

I've never "tested" this but I want to say the answer is yes. I assume it would retain more heat than plastic. I've never not been able to close the tailgate because it was too hot though. Albeit I live in NJ, not AZ.

You'll enjoy the ability to be rougher with your truck as opposed to "protecting" everytime you use it.

It's nice. I wish it had instructions. Not that it's really hard. But it came with foam that you kinda had to guess what to do with, but overall it went on nice, looks nice. I guess it's a win.

I too questioned the placement of the foam. I think i remember cutting it and making sure it was evenly distributed. I assume its to keep from having metal to metal contact.

Exactly what I figured, I would have liked direction as to what they expected me to do with it. There's a video of how to attach it and place the washers and screws. But I figured it out and it went on and it looks nice and seems beefy.
