Yesterday I wanted to remove my Tonneau applique. I first watched this video which seems to be produced by Tesla, showing someone removing it in order to install the Cyber Tent. It shows no tools required. Time stamp at 40 seconds.

However when I take a close look at mine (vin #126xx) I see T30 screws on each side. Obviously the setup in the video looks much better for anyone who might be removing the applique from time to time.

I'm curious if anyone has these (no tool required) appliques on their trucks, or does everyone have the T30 screws?
I know I can always get replacement thumb screws, but the clips in the video seem like such a cleaner option.

I also noticed that in the current version of the Cybertruck service manual, it also shows T30 screws which makes me wonder if only some early VINS got the clips and there were problems.

Check out this thread. There is a video of an owner removing the applique.

Yes, I understand how to take it off, I'm just curious about the differences between the version of truck that has a T30 holding the rear of the applique in place and the clip that doesn't require any tool as in the video I pasted into my original post.

I'm guessing that all delivered Cybertrucks have the T30 securing the applique.
I just checked mine and it has the T30.

Perhaps they made a design change after the video was made...

That's what I'm thinking. In fact, I recall many months ago reading a story about someone who said their applique flew off when driving. So maybe the front clips on the original design didn't hold well enough.

My understanding is that Tesla includes the quick release with the Cybertent.

My CT was delivered (Mar 9) with the T30 bolts but they fitted the quick release lever during the Cybertent install

Can confirm as well that quick release was installed during installation of Cybertent.

Mine got bent a tiny bit when I was hauling stuff in the back of the bed. I didn't know it was so sensitive. I had to bend it up some with pliers since it kept rubbing on the tonneau cover when it opens and closes. It's still not perfect. I think I will ask them to order the part whenever I need to go in for service.

Be very carful leaning anything heavy against that part and driving. That's what happened to mine.
