I'm looking to purchase a CT. I've done two test drives and both times my wife is dizzy afterwards. Not motion sick or nauseous, just dizzy or floaty feeling. Like you feel after getting off a boat. I think its called disembarkment syndrome. Has anyone ever experienced this and found ways to avoid it. Its looking to be a deal killer if we can't find a way past it. Any help is appreciated.

have you driven EVs before? Most newbie EV drivers make the passenger feel nauseous not being familiar with one pedal drive.

Test drive a Model Y to see if she feels the same? Perhaps if she drives, the feeling from controlling the vehicle herself will register in the brain, getting used to movement without sound?

it's the driver.... One pedal regen takes a few weeks to get used to. Then it becomes very second nature.

I had a friend in college who, on the highway would gas ON. gas off. Gas On. Gas Off. Gas On. Gas Off... omg i wanted to stab him.

Have her drive.

Certainly what other said about one pedal driving… but also next time you take it out, try changing the suspension settings from “relaxed” to “focused”.

My wife felt relaxed was a little too smooth and offputting to her. Focused feels a little more like a regular SUV. Once I changed it I didn’t hear a word about it again.

Very simple - click into settings, then dynamics.

Can be rough for the passenger, specially if the driver is a little jerky with the pedal.

Test drive and try putting the vehicle in CHILL mode when driving with her, will help dampen that acceleration. If you purchase then create a profile for when she is in vehicle with you.

Thank you, I really hope this works. She said it sounds helpful. We'll know Saturday. Tesla is letting us do a 2 hour test drive and I'll change these settings.

Good luck! To be more specific, try…

Drive mode: custom
Acceleration: chill
Ride&handling: focused

Really try to ease off the accelerator so stopping isn’t too abrupt.

Let us know how it goes!

It is 1,000 percent this right here.

I tell first time drivers to treat it like an electronic clutch on an infinite gear.

Its not nausea. This happened even when FSD did most of the driving. She said its like spending the day on a boat and when you lie down to go to bed you still feel like your on the boat. Don't think it was the one pedal driving, I figured that our pretty quick, she even said so. I really think stiffining up the suspension profile will help.

That usually happens to ones that are passengers in EVs no matter one drives. Unfortunately, you can’t turn of regen in the CT, but some EVs allows you to do that. Also, another thing, if she is looking at her phone, tell her to stop. People who are prone to motion sickness, need to look out and look down at their phones.

Its not motion sickness, its called disembarkment syndrome and they're different conditions. She doesn't feel nauseous.
