It is just situational awareness, but the option of turning off or on would be great.

When I look at my weather app, I also get the air quality mixed in.

I get to see the forest fires in the air quality at the same time. iPad IOS app MyRadar

I think the AQI feature is great, it's there to piss off sensitive people so they cry on the forums about having a tiny little icon on their screen as if it makes any type of difference to them or not. Should just be called the Karen indicator really, maybe you should complain to the manager of your local service center and see if they can assist further

Next time the OP gets an Amazon package...

...just rip off one side, tape it over the right-hand side of your screen. Problem solved!

You can also use this approach to hide many other useful pieces of data:
- cover up your speedo! Who cares how fast you're going?
- cover up the FSD visualization! Who cares about other vehicles around you? You can't do anything about them.
- cover up the map! Who doesn't remember where they are going? Who needs a computer to tell them where to turn.
- cover up the on-screen controls! I have an app, and buttons for key things. Why do I need to see them?

BTW, this approach also works with neighbors you don't want to see out your windows, people you don't want to see while walking down the street, or anything else you'd opt not to observe or take note of.

As a famed philosopher once wrote, life is like a box...

Now I think I could use a piece of chocolate.

Recent software update includes a completely useless icon in the upper right that indicates air quality. What bozo thought this was a good idea? What are we supposed to do with that information stay in our car? Does anybody know how to hide it?
In the instance of an apocalypse, the icon turns red so you know to turn on Bioweapon Defense Mode.

I use AQI to determine if I’m going for a run/bike ride or not.

Yes, I can get that info on the phone weather app, but it’s cool to see it in ‘real time’ as I’m driving home. Neat add on!!
Like today…I think I’ll ride my bike on the indoor trainer this afternoon, haha!!

Okay this conversation's gone full woke. People shaming other people for not caring about people with disabilities? Is this what we've become? ?‍♀
I just wanted to know if there was some way to hide the silly clutter. It's fine to show it in park, but I don't need it during my drive. is the score citywide or somehow geographically contextually relevant? I don't mind keeping it if it actually has some usefulness to it. And no, I'm not going to monitor it and switch BWDM on and off. If Tesla engineers want to divert the air through the BWDM filter based on the score, perhaps they can do that automatically, but I bought the CT to reduce annoyances.

That's a very good question.

I'll skip the unnecessary slur about others caring about people.

I like the AQI, but it doesn’t match the AQI as displayed on my phone. If you touch the CT screen AQI, it pops up a box of more weather info and shows the correct city I am located in. Nothing in the weather box shows where you can adjust anything. The CT was showing a yellow 52, when my phone app displayed a green 35. Maybe it will get better as times goes on.

I would think the bozo might know a few people in the sensitive groups. I sure do. I care about them like I do anyone. Air is important. I think. Actually I am pretty sure it is important.

The “State of the Air” 2024 report finds that despite decades of progress cleaning up air pollution, 39% of people living in America—131.2 million people—still live in places with failing grades for unhealthy levels of ozone or particle pollution. This is 11.7 million more people breathing unhealthy air compared to last year’s report. https://www.lung.org/research/sota/key-findings#:~:text=The “State of the Air,of ozone or particle pollution.

Why is air quality important? Local air quality affects how you live and breathe. Like the weather, it can change from day to day or even hour to hour. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and your local air quality agency have been working to make information about outdoor air quality as easy to find and understand as weather forecasts. A key tool in this effort is the Air Quality Index, or AQI. EPA and local officials use the AQI to provide simple information about your local air quality, how unhealthy air may affect you, and how you can protect your health
Although I agree with you completely, I think that we should have a setting for showing or not showing the AQI and even the forecast icon next to temperature. I was driving in fog yesterday and the forecast icon showed it sunny. Sure it was sunny above the fog :) The point is only that when you are driving you know what the icon should be and don't need to be told (ugh, its foggy outside, duh). Maybe driving at night it would be more useful. What I would like to see is weather information on the map so I can see, on a cross country drive for example, whether there is blowing snow ahead, or a deluge, not to mention road crews, etc. Maybe Tesla already has it and I have not been paying attention?
