thinking about a trip to a Florida cruise terminal from Houston next winter and I keep hearing about how this truck is so great on road trips. in consideration of the hassle of driving 60 miles to airport, parking, shuttle, TSA, wait for the plane. then upon arrival get luggage find transportation. And now consideration of how unreliable flying is. would ya'll consider just having the CT drive you instead. I'm thinking FSD on the CT will be much better by then. I don't have a CT yet. Last road trip in my Y (hardware 3) was so incredibly easy on a 230 mile trip no stops. no interventions what so ever.

How far? I drove it on a 350 mile road trip on FSD. It was great! Many here have gone much further. I live about 1000 miles from Florida but I wouldn't hesitate to take the CT there.... My wife on the other hand still doesn't trust electric.

It is 1165 miles. we have driven Orlando and the cape years ago, wasn't too bad. that extra distance from Orlando to Miami and charging probably make it a 3 day trip.

what's up with wives not trusting electric and especially the cybertruck. I keep running into that with people I know. And especially here on the coast with hurricanes. Gasoline stations run out of gas before the power goes out. and if the power does go out then gasoline is not available either. EVs are much better in stop and go on freeways.

We just did 600+ in one day, super low effort with FSD +Cybertruck. So you could likely do it in two and arrive the night before departure.
How long is the cruise versus the time spent commuting to/ from the port?

For that trip, I’d consider my work schedule too and probably end up flying and trying to turo a Cybertruck locally.
This is an in-between solution I sometimes settle on. You’d be surprised how often that’s actually a financially winning proposition.

This is to get to a cruise, so taxi/ Uber/ shuttle in Florida seems more practical. Unless Turo person will handle vehicle drop offs and pick ups in useful spots.

If this was in the height of hate (Late Feb to Late April) I’d say no. Too many wackos and 10 days with Sentry mode doesn’t exist. You will get 7 days and be at 20% and it cuts off. But now that the haters already are distracted and forgot who they we’re supposed to hate, I’d say go for it. Especially if there is reasonable parking.

I travel for a living (60%+) and I can tell you there is no better feeling than getting back into your own truck after a long flight (or a cruise). Having to stress in a line for your cruise bags and then an airport bus amd the getting your bags and checking them on the airline, then security and then boarding and then the whole process in reverse…take the Beast. You’ll thank us all!

And FSD is brilliant 90% of the time and 7% it is stupid and 3% it’s like having your drunk Uncle drive you to a Rave concert. Kinda fun memory- if you survive).

forgot to say I'm 78 and retired of course. finding hotel that has destination charger would be helpful. Charge to 100% while sleeping.

trying to imagine sitting in a car/truck for 10 to 12 hours just watching the road ahead even if you are not physically driving. we used to drive that long in our 20s 30s 40s. etc. but now in our 70s I dont know.

I’m 55. I might feel differently in 20 years, but if I’m going to travel- I’ll take CT over anything else. And if I’m in my CT, I’ll do FsD over driving even though I love to drive. It’s hard to explain but, I don’t ride well when someone else is driving. But with FSD, I’m still in charge and can drive when i want, but I can also choose to relax and think and meditate. Supervising driving is second nature now.

If you're planning to park the truck for a week, I'd say fly. I made that decision back in April because I was unwilling to leave my truck unattended to be damaged by unhinged leftists in a Detroit parking lot. I drove it to Toronto, Canada about a week later to see a concert and I was nervous about leaving it unattended. The truck drove great, but again, there were many wackos (I counted at least 4) yelling and honking and giving me the finger or thumbs down. I had to be very selective about where I parked and even so I was checking sentry mode non-stop.

I am traveling to Toronto again in a month on business. I was going to take the truck again, but realized I would have to park it most of the time I was there. It's also Pride week, with a lot of demonstrations, so on top of all the Elon hate, the Trump hate, the American hate, adding that additional element would mean my truck would be target numero uno. The flight is also quicker, so I am just going to fly.

In your case I'd recommend flying.

We (CT FSD) recently drove from Tampa to West NC. It was the easiest trip we've ever made. It was so much more relaxing than flying.

Calculus changes a little with younger children. I think that favors driving
