Doesn't help when you lose a bead or blow a sidewall. See 6:59 of this Rivian video for a classic sidewall blowout....and the subsequent spare tire change.Always with the spare tire. We all get canned air and will like it.
I agree. They all have their problems. With today's covers, I do prefer the tri-folds, but I use a roll up right now. With the tri-fold folded up, I can't get my 4 wheeler in the bed with the tailgate closed. With the roll-up it fits in there tight. It doesn't look as nice and it's less secure, but it gives me the little extra room I need to not haul a trailer every trip out.As an owner of 5 pickups over some 30 years I have had so many different types of covers from camper shells, tonneau covers, and currently a fiberglass "lid", I have not found any of them completely usable. The closest type was a hard folding type that that "folded" back to the truck cab that allowed a cover but some ability to put tall items in the bed. Seems like the CT model shows that concept so I am alright with that. Everyone has their own ideas so it is impossible to have a factory cover that will satisfy everyone.
I have a large folding Renogy 100 watt solar panel I use with my camper trailer, but it only puts out 12 volts which won't do anything for the main CT battery pack. It’s been mentioned, but having the little plugs so you can easily plug in your own solar would be a very nice inclusion and would only add a small amount to the cost of the car. Of course Tesla hasn’t done this on any existing cars but one can hope.
