With Elon freshly revealing that the Cybertruck won't go into production until Q4 2022 I really don't expect a production version reveal until 2022.

Pretty sure that's more than just an exaggeration. Otherwise Honda would just cut out the middle man and partner with South Korea as well.

LG makes their batteries, I'm pretty sure GM packages them and makes the sled and the body.
I can't speak to the newest Bolts now that LG is making the batteries in one of their U.S. factories but the Korean made batteries, drivetrain HVAC and instruments/infotainment came from S. Korea. The battery pack was assembled in S. Korea. Only 20% of the value of the Bolt was domesti

That's no way to learn how to build an EV.

I guess GM unveiled only just unveiled their Ultium platform last year that checks out. Crazy.

Even their "new" Ultium platform looks to be pretty old school with pouch style batteries supported by the vehicle (no structural battery).

Lol whats the SS stand for

hmmm

In the past "SS" have various means
"Sailing Ship"
"Steamship"
"Screw Steamer" as different from "PS" (paddle wheel steamer)
https://www.nadaguides.com/Boats/shopping-guides/what-does-ss-mean-on-a-boat

Many U.S. naval ships use USS
prefix “USS,” meaning “United States Ship,” is used in official documents to identify a commissioned ship of the Navy.
https://www.history.navy.mil/browse-by-topic/heritage/customs-and-traditions0/ship-naming.html

In this case I thought "SS" with Cybertruck meant "Stainless Steel"

Hope your day job is NOT doing closed captioning for comedians :)

The first sentence is OK but the second does not fit the joke.
The second line should be "don’t call me Shirley".
The second is a complaint due to hearing incorrectly, and thinking he is being called what he considers a girl's name.

I think what Elon is thinking is that he'll let Rivian and Ford fail miserably at scaling production in a timely fashion and then suddenly and apparently effortlessly start pumping out thousands of gleaming Cybertrucks that are even better than what was announced.
I don’t think Elon or Tesla are looking in the rear view mirror contemplating the poor design choices of the legacy OEMs. By giving them a little space and air time, the likes of Ford GM and Rivian wrestle their own narrative into the pickup truck zeitgeist.
The mission is to accelerate the transition to sustainability, not crush the competition. Tesla can’t do this alone.

Sure Tesla can't do it alone and we need more companies making EVs but the goal will not be reached if all the other competition is weak. Weak competition will have weak offering that will turn off buyers from pure full BEVs and serve as justification for staying with ICE and plugin hybrids.

You can not train great chess players by only having them play weak opponents.

I can see where you’re going with this, but Tesla is a very strong competitor and Rivian do appear to have compelling products. I think those two alone will drag the of the market off a cliff, whether they fly or not will be a good thing.
