Crissa, kind of asking you because I know you follow CT closer than me (and that is saying something) and have to my knowledge been exceptionally factual and accurate.

I keep reading at various times rumors and indicators that something other than dual motors will be released first. For example. the tracker (which led me to this site oh so many years ago) does as you say, assumes all TM's will be delivered first. Oddly though, are ANY Release Candidates anything other than DM? And didn't the original pitch say DMs were first? (my order was ~38hrs after launch) I thought I remembered that I wanted a TM for that wonderful range and speed, but ordered a DM because they were going to be released first.

Who runs the tracker? It seems like they should admit that DMs are coming first (most likely) and update the thing. Funny enough, if I am right, despite being the 5th to order in my town, I am the first DM and could be the first to receive.

That said, I also assumed they'd let you change your mind, as your order came up. I'd be fine with that too, because by the time they got to me, maybe the trimotor would be available!
Ill probably get crucified for relaying the word on the street again but..

Word on the street is that elons performance CT tweet was him testing the tri-motor.

Amen! None of us will be taking our Cybertrucks with us when our time is up.
Depends on your queue spot

As far as I know, the reservation tracker's creator is anonymous. '[email protected]'.

The only reason we think we know of a dual motor release candidate, is because in the photos before they had the frunk plastics, one had 'dual motor' written on a label.

Some vins also hint at dual motor - but vins are created as a code, and are not always literal. There could be model 1 and model 2. We don't know.

There's also the rumor - not confirmed by any named person at Tesla - that the performance model Elon was driving was a Tri Motor. But again, we have no corroborating evidence.

At the launch, Elon indicated release order would be Dual, Tri, Single. After the launch, and when 40% of the orders were for the Tri, he said it would be Tri then Dual. A couple years later, Elon indicated there would be a Quad, and it would be first.

The only time Tesla has put out the performance model first, was with the refresh Model S, Plaid. They usually - but not always - have two models to choose from when they open the configurator.

So... We don't know, and we don't really know. The Tri Motor seems to have come from the same place as the Plaid, but we've never seen confirmation of a Quad Motor. And the Semi, which originally was four Model 3 motors is now three motors not at all shared with the Model 3 or the Plaid. It also has a freewheel transmission, the only Tesla to date that can shift any amount of gears. And that ability has not been discussed for the Cybertruck.

So we really, really, have no idea what the motor configurations for the Release Candidates all are. Not until Tesla says, or opens the configurator!

Thank you for the thoughtful response. Everything you wrote coincides with my memory (including that it was Elon himself who caused much of the revisionist history, which I had forgotten).

Hopefully, we will get those initial order pages soon and put so many wild theories to bed one way or another!

...or the vin documents are released and say, which they don't always but they did this time...

So it's Dual and Tri as Standard and Performance.

I'm figuring that November release isn't us plebs and the 125k per year is aspirational and not including a slow ramp to get there.
Combined with my 101k queue estimate gets me somewhere around Feb-Apr 2025
If that 125k includes the ramp, maybe I'll be lucky and be Nov-Jan ?‍♂
