Got an email from them that they are doing a voluntary recall due to the thermal issues Tesla is suing them over. Evidently you return your old one, they give you credit for when they re engineer it to buy another.

I told them I would prefer a full refund but haven't gotten a response. I haven't used my adapter which I bought to use CCS past the fender. I don't have a lot of faith in the company when they specifically told me it would work with the Tesla CCS but they hadn't tested it fully.

This is for the breakaway adapter? That's a bummer. I bought it for the same reason. Bought it from Evannex, though, and haven't heard anything from them.

Hmmm ? I have a lot of faith in the morals and goals of the folks running evject. can't speak for business sense, but thats secondary to me. For now I recommend giving them the benefit of the doubt--for now.

It does work, but in worst case wear situations it may overheat. From the report there may also have been some dimensional tolerance issues.

I took "it will work" to mean there weren't situations where it would be dangerous, not simply that it would conduct current.

Depends where you place hot to touch on the dangerous scale. IIRC, the testing reached 100C at the pins.

The main page states:
DISCLAIMER
NACS version EVject may get hot during some Cybertruck supercharging sessions from 0-35%. Please handle with care until EVject and charger wand cool down. EVject has been tested up to 252 kW on Superchargers and 330 kW on CCS1 chargers. At this time, we do not recommend exceeding these rates.

Add-on or accessory charging devices that were not vetted through the extremely rigorous safety tests and design evals by Tesla should be met with extreme prejudice.

Only a matter of time before someone dies as a result of a janky plug converter/extender/etc.

Tesla is being a bit overly picky and I doubt their lawsuit will do anything but eliminate their competition via legal costs.

Instead of suing them, maybe Tesla could simply release a CCS adapter that actually fits. I bought the EVJect to have backup access to CCS chargers on road trips. I’m glad they are (under duress) doing the recall swap.

Even with a properly sized CCS adapter, people would still use evject on Cybertruck and other Teslas.
