Has anyone slammed their finger on the CT door. I was trying to avoid finger prints and I accidentally slammed my finger in the CT door. Be careful when you shut the door so it doesn’t happen to you. I needed three stitched. I will save you from my photos.
Has no one ever just butt bumped it closed. If your ass is oily, you may have bigger issues than fingerprints on steel!

Fingerprints are better than stitches. I have some of those "retarded" aftermarket handles. I don't recommend them unless you like stitches.
I specifically warned one manufacturer of such an inherently dangerous widget in a post on this forum, but my comments kept either getting deleted by them or the admins. I swear I thought I screenshotted them, but I can't find it anywhere.

But hey, what do I know about selling a product without safety disclaimers ?‍♂

Pictures or didn’t happen.
It happened to me. I managed to make a video right after the incident to commemorate the occasion. Read the video description for the background info on how/why it happened. The skin cut healed after a couple of weeks, but the nerve endings were severed at the crush line. I lost feeling from the crush line to the fingertip. After a month and a half, I am happy to say the fingertip feeling is back. The two fingers that were crushed are now MORE sensitive to the touch at the fingertip (more nerve endings?) than my other fingers. Strange but true.

I saw your post and responded. Mine got deleted too right along with yours. Someone doesn't want this message to get out to the general public. I just responded to this thread. Here's a picture of my post just in case it gets deleted. Maybe this very post will be deleted as well.

Doesn't anyone just use the rubber trim at the top to both open/close the doors?

I have nearly zero fingerprints from door open/close in six months of ownership.

I try not to touch that rubber piece because it will eventually wear out. you can grip the inside of the door to open it since the plunger operates in a half-cocked state when initially pressing the button (so no risk of getting it slammed at that point).

As for closing, I try to use the palm of my hand on the edge. Or bump the door with my butt.

Anyone using those door closers that sit inside the door edge is going to meet their fate one day with it. absolutely guaranteed.

It is flimsy, and difficult to grasp.

The risks and precautions associated with closing a door using the inside seem obvious.

Mine is rock solid. It feels like a solid strip of rubber-covered metal TBH. Makes opening/closing a breeze.

I don’t get it. You guys got hurt because you don’t want to leave fingerprints on your car?

Yup. I have handles on the front doors (different style - not sure that will save the inept, though). For the rear doors butt bump works great. I am surprised noone has mentioned this until now.
