Order placed on 12/26/23.
Hmm any day now i'd think. The cold snap a couple weeks ago in the southern US that shut things down for a few days probably had an impact.

I mean, if he says so.

it’s a good sound system.

but it’s still very much an automobile sound system built by an OEM

I guess I’d rather and be interested in a high end car audio pro giving a review, before Kyle

and in any event, that the Cybertruck has a good audio system is essentially arbitrary. They could make a Model S with as good an audio system. They couldn’t make a Model S be a good off-roader.

which to me highlights the indictment underlying Kyle’s comments - which by the way was one of the many examples I’ve seen around this topic that prompted my initial comment above

that underlying indictment is, these collective comments start to feel a bit like, “yeah I guess it also has a bed and big tires, pretty much like any truck does - but what really makes the Cybertruck stand out from the crowd is its audio system

and fundamentally, I could take a 2015 Dodge Ram plus $3,000 and put in an audio system that would rival or surpass the Cybertruck’s.
But then you'd be stuck driving a 2015 Dodge Ram so.... ?‍♂

My main point being is that I’m highly confident I’ll love the sound system and that’s more icing on the cake of all the other great features of the truck (which for me: no paint, no dents, tons of cargo capacity, smooth quiet ride, all the normal Tesla goodies, cooled seats, steer by wire… to name a few).
Well said!

A minority of people seem surprised that a top-notch sound system is important to people. Some even think you could spend a few thousand in the cab of a regular pickup and improve sound vs. the OEM sound in the Cybertruck. Those people don't understand how important the accoustic qualities of the vehicle's cab are to awesome sounding car/truck audio, and that a traditional pickup cab would be hard to beat if an audio engineer was purposefully trying to design a vehicle that was impossible to make sound really great. In other words, no, I don't believe the hairbrained idea that a traditional truck could sound better with just a few thousand in custom car audio. That amount of money doesn't go very far when it comes to custom car audio. Louder? Yes. Better sounding? Not to any audiophile who loves music. Boxy truck cabs are well known for having sucky accoustics.

Based on how many early testers have made a specific point about how especially good the Cybertruck audio sounds, I think it's likely that the audio engineers at Tesla were able to leverage the shallow roof angle shape of the Cybertruck in ways that would not be possible with a traditional boxy truck cab. It's naive in the extreme to believe a few thousand in custom audio design and gear is going to cause the audio in a Dodge Ram to surpass the solution Tesla engineered in the Cybertruck. It shows a distinct lack of understanding of auto accoustics.

Further, it's odd to question why the excellent sound of the Cybertruck is only now coming out (and being listed alongside the other great features of Cybertruck we have known about for a long time). The fact is, it's only very recently that people were allowed to even sit in the Cybertruck (and often the stereo wasn't even on). Obviously, people aren't going to list excellent audio as an important attribute of Cybertruck until they have had time to fully digest just how good it is. And that's going to be hard to do if you've never heard it or have only heard it while being overwhelmed by your first Cybertruck experience.

By all accounts, experiencing the Cybertruck for the first time is quite over-whelming, it's going to take time to process things you can't even see, like the audio. Most people still haven't heard it at all, let alone through multiple sources of varying bitrates, so we have to inform ourselves based upon the observations of people we find reliable and trustworthy when it comes to parsing audio. It's still slim pickings on that front, but I think I've heard a similar enough story, from enough people that are not prone to exaggerations, to know the Cybertrucks soundstage is naturally good, and I don't find that surprising considering that traditional truck cabs were not designed with accoustics in mind. I suspect the roof angle in the Cybertruck simply works really well to fill the cabin with a full, rich and clear sound that doesn't fight itself. We know that Tesla has audio engineers that work hard to take full advantage of the cabin accoustics on every model.

Spending $3K at a car audio shop is not going to get you even 1/4 of the way there, particularly if you are startijng out with a boxy truck cab. Let's stop the nonsense.

I can hardly wait to hear it myself with good quality source material. Great sound is important to me.
