To purchase a car in Texas requires going through dealer. We live in Texas and “bought” MS in CA, and delivery in Houston.

That is called "Having more money than common sense".

As mentioned he's the founder of Reddit and Serena Williams husband. From what I've seen of him he comes across as a good guy. However he got this early Cybertruck because he's a techbro billionaire. I only watch 10 seconds of the video. He probably was totally unaware of Cybertruck until a week ago. As far as the Cybertruck goes he's a 100% poser. Watching 10 seconds was more than enough to confirm that.

Tesla states that you have to take delivery of your vehicle in the state the car is going to be registered in. I’ve gone back and forth with multiple sales reps over it…

It's so noisy. It must have beast tires. It gives me a headache, although I have a subwoofer on my computer. There is also a loud whine. I'm only familiar the my friend's S, in which I can't hear anything. It's a truck, not an S, but I thought it would be quiet since Tesla seems really good at making a quiet car.

I hope I get to ride in one with the off-road tires and one with regular tires so I can decide which I want.

this was not a delivery event of normal retail production cybertrucks

these that were delivered, and the next ~970 that will be delivered, are special edition vehicles that Tesla will offer only to certain VIP-types (be that venture capitalists who invested in Tesla in 2009 and saved it from bankruptcy, or 'normal' people who have bought 4 of each Tesla model ever produced, etc.).

so, the normal production retail "line" of people with pre-orders is sort of irrelevant to who Tesla chooses to extend an offer for getting one of these special edition units



it's not corruption, and some version of this has been standard operating procedure for Tesla with every model released

Really? I saw a video from Ryan Shaw about one of the first customers who reported being offered a discount on FSD. I believe it was reduced to $7,500 but was not the original $2,000 price at the time of the first orders. I ordered a dual motor on Nov 26 with FSD at $2,000. In Sept 2020, I ordered a tri-motor with FSD at $10,000.

I hope you're right and I get it for $2,000.

That is correct. The best number on FSD at time of order was $7k. You will have to excuse Gus. He is probably factoring in hopeful deflation.
