Truck (cyberbeast) was purchased August 1st, 2 weeks later FSD would no longer engage so scheduled a service visit for September 4th.

They ended up replacing the computer (twice, first replacement was apparently faulty), and several wiring harnesses. This was all during the same service visit, they had the truck for about 2 weeks.

I've had the truck back since the 18th and I've noticed several things missing. My FSD option is no longer even present on the autopilot screen. All I see is Traffic Aware cruise control. Garage door integration is no longer available, can't sync/pair MyQ garage. The app to control accent lighting colors is gone. This is what I've noticed so far. I didn't have the vehicle for long before it went in for service so it's hard to recall exactly what was there and now isn't.

I've done a fair bit of internet sleuthing looking for ideas as to why this is and how to resolve it and have come up empty handed. I did message Tesla service team same day I picked up the vehicle about the missing FSD and they have stated that it may take some time for it to return as in "the car will realize fsd is missing and update itself". Is this really a thing?

Full disclaimer: I'm a new Tesla owner so I have absolutely zero experience with anything Tesla but based on my internet sleuthing it appears forums like this one are the best place to go in search of actual answers and fixes.

Cheers

Their response is unacceptable! Give them one more chance to make it right before you call a lemon law lawyer. Sorry you have to go through this. The vast majority of our service center experiences are positive.

Yes, it's a thing, but IMO Service should have forced it to update.

I would keep it connected to a strong wi-fi signal while parked at home for the quickest chance of updating. If it has had a strong wi-fi signal, I would make another service appointment for them to restore full functionality.

This is what I personally expected. Vehicle is always connected to WiFi at home, even have an access point in the garage for it.

There are several SC's in my area. Do you think it's worth going to a different one? My hesitation is that the previous one obviously has experience with the vehicle.

I would just make an appointment with the closest one and tell them it's unacceptable that FSD doesn't work yet and you will escalate if necessary. I bet they fix it fast.

My observation is there are a number of "mole" employees at Tesla that may have supplemental income streams from outside parties (think oil company funded non-profits or legacy auto dealership groups). They can't give blatantly bad service without it becoming obvious, but they are paid to walk the line that frustrates customers. These people are generally pretty intelligent or they would be gone long ago. They view themselves as being above everyone else, with their own little secret.

The way you deal with them is as above. it's also a good idea to report them. Always get the identity of the person making the bad decision, so you can report them to Tesla. I wonder if Tesla has a national hotline for people to report dissatisfaction with specific employees? If not, it would be a good idea for them to establish one, to root out the bad actors. They won't get fired immediately, but once a pattern of reports is collected, they will be gone.

They can only get away with it for any length of time if Tesla customers aren't proactive.

Did you say whether you bought the CB new or used? I only ask because when we bought the FS series I believe we were told that FSD would not transfer

If you paid for FSD, it had better be there…

False info.

Foundation Series Cybertrucks have FSD for the life of the vehicle, even if you sell it on the used market. The only way this isn't necessarily true is if you trade the vehicle in to Tesla. Then they own it and can do what they want with it. Or if you ask Tesla to transfer it to another vehicle when they are running a promotion that allows you to do that. Tesla cannot simply remove it from the vehicle when you sell it to someone else.

In fact, I've never heard of Tesla selling FSD with any vehicle where it didn't explicitly stay with the vehicle for the life of the vehicle. That's what makes it such a good deal if you buy it now. Because when it becomes autonomous, they can't jack the price up, you already own it! And when it becomes autonomous it will be worth considerably more to third parties than an equivalent vehicle that is not autonomous. By then the price of FSD might be $20-30K. Because that would be cheap for autonomous functionality.

Yes, but did the OP say how he bought it? If he got it from Tesla, as you say, it might not have FSD, but I guess it did and then it didn't. I am not trying to argue any particular way; just trying to understand the situation. If the OP bought the Beast new and this is happening Tesla will make it right for sure. We know that. So what's the deal? That is why I asked in the first place.

I'm not following your train of thought.

It seems like it's obviously a mix-up on the part of the service center caused by a computer replacement. FSD needs to be associated and functioning. I could understand them sending him home if it was going to download within a day or two, but any wait longer than that is unacceptable. That's why I recommended he make a new service appointment to see if they will do the obvious and right thing.

It was purchased new. Everything from the app and infotainment system says FSD is purchased

Already made a new appointment for Oct 8th. Hopefully they will get this resolved quickly. I can’t imagine forcing an update takes that long.
