Did few hours of driving with FSD on busy streets of South Bay Area - and now I feel that I prefer self driving more than FSD. Probably on long(er) trips FSD will great.
  • FSD is quite good, however has to learn more on CT size, and limitations, e.g.
    • while taking a sharp left at an intersection , it drove over the divider
    • Merging lanes in hilly curvy road was tricky and I had to intervene
  • My driving style is different from FSD's... e.g. When I see a red signal, I ease and let regen to take over baking and gradually slow down; However, with FSD - it will continue at speed and then brake as it come close to stop. Nothing wrong but different.
  • Again, if I am not showing off pickup speed to a 911 stopped next to me, I pick up gradually; FSD accelerates fast - not sure if I can change it...
  • I like to change lanes in heavy traffic to pass slow drivers or my intuition that someone will slow to get on the right lane; FSD will continue driving on it's set path

When you get in a cab or an Uber, how many of them drive exactly as you would.
What about your spouse or kids?

People drive differently. If everyone drove as well as they think they do, there would be no accidents.

FSD driving habits will also change over releases.

I had to disengage on 101S today bc traffic was stopping but the vehicle showed no sign of stopping. Definitely was in my (stopping distance) discomfort zone going from about ~65-68 mph. I think it's important that people record their feedback as well, not just disengage... add some context for improvements.

Some of this like anticipating stopping gradually will never be as good as us. We can recall typical behaviors of lights and car better and it can only see so far, is limited in hills, curves, etc.
