Has anyone ever engaged FSD on the road and just let it take you wherever it wants? I have tried this several times and it seems to be taking me somewhere but I always intervene before getting too far away. I have always wondered where it would end up taking me if I were to just let it proceed.

I used to do this a lot actually. It depends on the roads. I’ve had it take me as far as a few towns over when I start on ā€˜surface streets’, but it almost always gets ā€˜stuck’ in a loop eventually. Taking all right turns usually - and it has a knack for finding a ā€˜block’ to circle.
Now, I should note I haven’t tried with 14.2.x - I imagine it would get bored and park šŸ˜‚
Haven’t tried on the highway because… well I haven’t.

So according to Grok, it prefers to stay on straight roads and highways, it says it will tend to stay on the road until it sees a better option to go on a straighter road for longer periods. It doesn't have some end point in mind, just get to the longest, straightest road it can in the near area.

It will just continue driving along the road like Auto Pilot. You can turn, if you press signal direction when approaching the next intersection.
Or it will turn, if it finds a nice exit ramp it likes onto a toll highway. Luckily I was paying attention, I thought I plugged in an address but it was just going where it pleased.

What I've noticed is that it seems to want to follow the route you had in Nav, even if you 'end trip'. If no trip was entered for the drive, it seems to randomly choose left or right at Tee intersections if you don't specify. I haven't seen any logic behind the choices.

And if you try to have Grok try to revise a route, or modify to use a particular road, you'll find yourself cursing her out.... šŸ™„

Will it stop at a SC when the batteries are low? What will happen after fully charged: go home or continue to nowhere?

Mine drove right past a McDonalds without stopping, but then pulled in at a gym.

Is it trying to tell me something... šŸ¤”
Obviously it's saying McDonald's should have been there

Tesla is calling all CT home, if you let go on its own, it will end up at ā€œGiga Texasā€ just like you pet dog eventually finds its way back home.

I actually tested this (last year) and it fights me. It keeps turning off my blinker and does it's own thing. Maybe it does now, I'll have to test.

It would be cool if you could choose "Random Adventure" and let it take you where it wants just to see where you end up. Perhaps you could choose "Tour the Area" or "Find a Random Place to Camp" for a little fun. Maybe Grok can do that, now that I think about it.
