Full size spare tire storage ideas

Need full size spare option. I will be way in the backcountry, often.

Rivian has a nice in-bed solution. Wish Cybertruck has the same....one can hope, small sub-trunk in the vault not withstanding

Can the CT vault be closed with a full size CT tire be positioned upright, with its sidewall under the cab overhang? If so, that would be an option for storing a spare.

On the plus side, the extremely spare-tire-compulsive owner can easily haul around eight spare tires!!

Maybe a collapsible spare will work

That collapsible tire looks very interesting. It looks like Audi charges over $500 for that option! I suspect owners planning to do serious off-roading wouldn't trust this type of tire to get them home through very rough going, but it would serve an urban driver who wants the security of a spare. It would probably fit up against the cab wall of the vault, and would be lighter than a full size spare. Maybe, after enough CTs are in the wild, some aftermarket company will produce one to fit the CT's bolt pattern.

I won't have an empty bed when in the backcountry, so... Not my favorite solution.

We won't see it, I think, but the best solution is the way the full size spare is stored in my Yukon XL, suspended under the rear end by a cable and lowered by turning a crank in the bumper with the lug wrench.

Perhaps the frunk??
M's series TVR's carried a full size spare under the bonnet, lying flat in FRONT of the radiator!! It aided greatly in the car's crash performance. To say it was a major pain in the ass (and back) to get in and out is an understatement.

In the frunk would be the optimal place in my mind. Dunno about the rest of you, but my Model 3's frunk is for the emergency toolbox, straps, jumper cables, and everything else I rarely touch. Can't say it'll be that different with my Cybertruck, so giving up 1/4 of it's space for a spare is a worthy trade off

Anywhere on the outside of the vehicle, and you may take a 5% range hit 100% of the time for a spare you might need 0.01% of the time

Carry a plug kit and that 0.01% goes to 0.001%

If you’re going offroad, throw one in the bed


but mind that buying a same-size spare may be $1,500+

I have a plug kit and air, all good, used it on my s once.
