I got my invite last week while on vacation with the family. I had planned to trade in my 2018 Model 3 LR for the CT AWD, but I can't bring myself to pay the $100k price tag when I expected originally to pay somewhere between $60-$70k. I don't want the FSD as I have it on my 2023 Model Y (transferred from the 3) and don't use it much. I just cant see myself paying that much for a truck. Does anyone know if we do not purchase the foundation series, will we still have ordering option when the regular AWD is made available to order? It's funny that I was checking my email and app multiple times per week waiting for my invite only to freeze up and not go through with it once I got it. I'm sure I am one of many, but man this is a tough spot!

While Tesla has said nothing officially, many on this forum have reached out to sales folks and have been told that their place in line would remain. (It would be lousy customer service to say, "You were the most loyal and waited the longest, so you have to buy the most expensive option or we skip you till all the later reservations buy a standard edition truck." They could rationally let "everyone" have an opportunity to buy an FS truck before they flip to regular Cyber Trucks, but once and if they switch production over to standard CB and AWD versions, they should start through the queue again, whatever that queue actually is).

If declining the FS makes us lose our place in line Tesla would have a responsibility to return our deposits ASAP.
Holding the deposit infers that we still have our place in line but stranger things have happened. In the arena of ethics and business I have given up predicting.

I got my invite a few weeks ago and am still struggling to pull the trigger.

I think I'm going to do the Beast for the front locking differential (which the dual motor AWD doesn't get) and power (just because).

But, the delivery time listed for the AWD dual is February while the CBeast is "Mid-2024".

Cybertruck is a long term investment like many vehicles. You're no doubt familiar with Tesla's technology, the toughness, and low cost of ownership long term. People in videos are also say it rides and drives quite well. You're not just paying for a 'truck' as it has serious performance and cutting edge technology. I would take a step back and try seeing yourself four or more years from now both with and without the Cybertruck, and what you might've wished you would've done.

Your decision. The selfish part of me would tell people uncertain to just "Don't Order It" because that would mean I'll get my invite sooner.

Dual motor gets both front and back locking differential. Software just isn’t supporting it yet.

Long term investment will depreciate for sure , after 4 years will be like 45k , it is not investment but depreciating asset
mostly people buying CT own model 3 or model y, means they plan to use CT as an SUV but they paying for truck features also

The only official mention from Tesla regarding a locking diff I've seen is with the Beast.

I've been looking but I don't see anything saying the dualmotor physically has an electro-locking differential on the truck. Anyone know besides the screen message, if the dualmotor has locking diffs actually on the truck?

Do we really think they aren't going to put a mode in the beast where it simulates a rear locking diff? All they have to do is force the motors to spin at the same speed and ignore slippage.

Look for the utubes that came out right around the delivery event. One with Monro and another had head Tesla engineers on them. They said front and rear lockers.
