Oil pump?? In motors?? How will they fix that??
Gearbox has no pump.
I change Gearbox oil every year because of torque on the gears.
Yeah... thats what I was getting at as well.

OTOH, I have a "oilless" air compressor that supposedly requires no maintenance. However when you dig deep, it comments about oil inside the compressor and oil filter. It says you may need to service it if you use the unit a lot. So I wonder if that is what is being referred to.

Also... there was another thread about a coolant leak. This has coolant in it? Does that need to be flushed too?

Before we know it, we are gonna find pistons and cylinders in this thing :ROFLMAO:

I thought EV's had "NO" Maintance Needed ? ?
Yeah... thats what I was getting at as well.
Vehicle Service Intervals
Your vehicle should generally be serviced on an as-needed basis. However, Tesla recommends the following maintenance items and intervals, as applicable to your vehicle, to ensure continued reliability and efficiency of your Cybertruck.

  • Brake fluid health check every 4 years (replace if necessary)*.
  • A/C desiccant bag replacement every 8 years.
  • HEPA filter replacement every 2 years, or every year in cases of off-road/dirt road driving or excessive pollution.
  • Clean and lubricate brake calipers every year or 12,500 miles (20,000 km) if in an area where roads are salted during winter.
  • Rotate tires every 6,250 miles (10,000 km) or if tread depth difference is 2/32 in (1.5 mm) or greater, whichever comes first.
* Heavy brake usage due to towing, mountain descents, or performance driving -- especially for vehicles in hot and humid environments -- may necessitate more frequent brake fluid checks and replacements.

The thermal system uses coolant circulating through the drive motors, battery pack, and electronics to keep them at optimal operating temperature. This can also be used to provide cabin heat. But like the oil, it's not subjected to the stresses of internal combustion, and has no specific maintenance interval.

Separately there's a heat pump to efficiently move heat in and out of the system. It needs refrigerant, but that lasts forever barring a mechanical failure or leak.

Yeah I read that a few hours ago.

what’s nice is all of this can be done at home. Nice YouTube video on cleaning/and lubing the brakes. Almost the same thing as doing a brake job… fairly simple.

The title (back in the shop) of this thread suggests a recurring issue.
Intentional or not, please let us know how an obviously rare issue gets resolved.
First time to the shop...I meant back to Tesla after just picking it up for the first time.

The Tesla gear reduction units have a pump and oil filter. They probably never need to be changed.

Almost no one does that because it's not needed.

We received our Cybertruck a couple days ago. Drove it home and around our town, loved it...so many positives! Earned cool parent status picking up the kids from school. Decided to go for a trip today and took it on the highway...we could't go over 68MPH. It wasn't from our security setting, it's due to some technical issue regarding an oil pump. Needless to say we have a loaner car for a bit. What a letdown. Anyone else have a similar issue?
Fords, Chevys, Dodge and all the rest have very similar problems but nobody ever posted it on Facebook so we never knew.
Tesla sure takes a beating when something goes wrong. They make it right most of the time it’s over the air or a scheduled visit to your home or office. Accidents on the highway they don’t report a car accident. They report a “Tesla” was involved in a terrible accident that killed 3 teenagers in LosAngeles CA. Not a BMW or a Mercedes Benz.

Most people aren't coming here to complain about an over the air update and most people here are having to take their vehicle to a service center. I've been around during all of Tesla's vehicle launches including the original Roadster, the CT is having more issues than all but the Roadster, which had a smaller number because of limited production volume but the percentage may be similar.

Hi Everyone. Well, I got the truck back. And it goes over 68MPH! woo hoo. Tesla was great about communicating where they were in the process. Have a couple cosmetic items scheduled via mobile service but it's nice to have it back. Now we are able to get it wrapped next week!

I had the same problem this morning at 525 miles how long after the morning have you driven? I already had a scheduled appointment in the next 10 days but I am wondering if I should be driving until then

I think we have the same problem, alert code 'dif_a149'?

My truck has been in service since May 20th and will be kept there throughout this week too as I was told today. So, it is expected to spend half of the first month ownership in the service center.

I picked up my truck early this month after the accelerator recall AND some 'unknown' delay and drove it about 2 weeks and 800 miles. This alert occurred twice and resolved itself both times. It seemed to me that it happened every time I washed the truck with a pressure washer at home, but the service center said it's not the car wash.

So far, the service center staffs have been helpful and responsive. I just hope that I can get the truck back soon.

I just had a Fluid warning. They are saying they have to replace my oil pump in my front motor. I have just started to go to a car wash once or twice a week now that there is salt on the road in the midwest. I am wondering if it is the same thing you are experiencing. How did yours work out?

Car wash at home with a regular electric pressure washer caused this issue on my truck.

SC replaced the oil pump, and the problem has never resurfaced in the last 7 months after the service work.

Good Luck!
