Had my charger replaced under warranty for the new part today. Provided the part number courtesy of this thread. They gave me zero grief about it.

Do you have information about this? The service center in Orlando said that there was no such wireless charger!

I just submitted a service request and have a Mobile Service appointment for 06/27. Will report back any information.

ETA: The EPC lists the charger part as up to Gen 5 now.

I included this part number in my service request.

Had my charger replaced today. He showed me the old one and it had the heat sinks built in. My truck was a late foundation series with gray interior. He said they replaced the part as some of them are faulty, but the new part number being showed in this thread is the same charger my truck already had in it that overheated my phone. I have not had time to test it yet, but I will report back with any changes in charging. Thought it was interesting that I already had the new part number in my truck and it was not working.

I’m assuming the ‘early’ builds had the non-heatsink version. Seeing that they’re on Gen 5, it’s apparent that Tesla knew this was an issue and has been working on a fix.

IMG_0456.jpeg
This is what they told me:

GEN 5.0(1877045-00-C)

Correction: Diagnosis: Low Voltage Circuit Integrity Check

Concern: Wireless charging pad is still overheating ( per previous service )

Repair Notes: Technician inspected the vehicle and verified the wireless charging pad was overheating when used for long periods, consistent with the previous service report. The issue was identified as a known characteristic of the current hardware and devices being used. There is going to be heat transfer from wireless charging. Depending on the length of time this is used and work load being put on the device being charged the heat can increase. No repairs were necessary as this is a recognized behavior of the system. The technician confirmed that no further action is required at this time.

Any recommendations for the actual part or parts needed to fix the issue.
Mine still continues to overheat and they say it’s always going to do that if you charge for more than 20 minutes which is ridiculous.

Not a solution... but during the very hot days and when the sun was shining directly on the charging pad, I just placed my phone upside down (screen facing down) on the charging pad, so it would stop charging and heating up for the moment.

I just want someone to make a useful box/container thing that fits in there. I use the magbak chargers anyway.
Shit, I’d gladly buy a dual cupholder that has a wedge shape tailored to that hole at the bottom of it.
Just because Tesla thinks that’s where I should charge my phone doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.

agree. I got the center console jawn with the retractable usb-c cords and a cup holder mag mount that will accept the plugs. I just want to turn off the charger.

though: I do also have a 3d printed thing that allows me to charge my airpods in the phone charger.

Yeah. I do that too but I’d rather have cup holders or something like that.
Can one of you 3d printing genii design something?
I know I would buy it and I’m guessing several others too.
it’s pretty effective as a French fry holder now.

Scheduled and the technician is coming to my house to replace it. One thing I love about Tesla is that they’re always improving internal parts and we generally get them under warranty.
I am having issues with my phone intermittently stop charging when it's on the pad. I mentioned to them that there is a known issue and there a fix but they are telling me this isn't under warranty and that this is a part to buy. I feel like the service center is just trying to shaft me in every visit. It's always, oh we can't reproduce it or that it works when the technician tried to reproduce it. I'm now just asked to call back with the time and date that it stops charging so that they can check the logs. Anyone else dealing with this type of service at their SCs?

Easiest way is to just show them if it is reproducible. But yea seems like some service centers are less willing to investigate. You could try a different one if you have it nearby.

Easily scheduled mobile service through the app thanks to this thread. "My new Fold7 is overheating when using the wireless charger, I understand there is a new updated part to fix this" that was what I wrote.
