I don’t. We did add some tint to the windshield too. I can’t remember the level, but much less. I would not do that again and am considering removing it. The windshield is so angled that when you look straight ahead you are looking obliquely through a very thick cross section of glass. I cannot be sure why because the tint was installed at ten miles so I never saw the untinted version, but I do see some distortion directly in front of my eyes. I suspect the tint introduced that distortion and it’s accentuated by the low angle. Good intentions with unintentional consequences, like so many aftermarket automotive modifications. It often turns out that professional engineers know a few things.
I agree. I got my windshield tinted to 70% with 95% IR reduction. I would not do it again. The windshield tint for the CT is incredibly difficult to do perfectly. My highly-rated installer redid it twice for a total of 3 times. The windshield is simply too big to handle, resulting in tiny kinks while handling and scratches when dried.

I spoke to some other tint installers and one of them said he uses a pool noodle technique to keep the film from kinking, which makes sense to me If you do decide to tint your windshield, ask about how they handle the film

We’ve done Xpel XL Prime XR plus on our MY
planning in the Cybertruck as soon as it warms

Clear but blocks 70

heat/UV rejection for a front windshield is generally XPEL PRIME XR Plus in 70% VLT (Visible Light Transmission).

### Why XPEL PRIME XR Plus 70%?
- XPEL PRIME XR Plus is widely regarded as XPEL's top-tier window film line. It uses advanced multi-layer nano-ceramic technology for:
- Superior infrared (IR) heat rejection (often up to 96% or higher in lighter shades).
- 99%+ UV protection (blocks harmful rays that fade interiors and affect skin health).
- Excellent optical clarity with minimal distortion or haze.

I was planning on tinting mine when it arrived... but like to see very clear outside and was afraid of having tint imperfections on my line of sight but now you say the windshield looks all warped when looking straight?

What tint did you go with?

I just checked the invoice (Exotic Solutions in Delray Beach). That’s exactly the film we used. I see no kinks or voids or gaps but we still have distortion. I was swayed by the “Florida sun” argument and remain conflicted so haven’t taken it out but if I didn’t have it I wouldn’t add it. We did the same thing on my wife’s MY with no issues but the windshield is much more vertical.

great point and hopefully we can get feedback of tint that works with the Cybertruck windshield angle

did you escalate within Xpel with your problem?

I took delivery of my CT yesterday. It also came with FSD V13.2.9 on software 2025.44.200.

I haven not escalated, am assuming it is the nature of the steep windshield angle and looking through it obliquely. The detailer who installed it is really good, said he isn’t surprised that when looking at a tinted window from the side, we're seeing some distortion. He said “Who does that? You’re looking through like an inch or more of glass at that angle, and a much thicker cross section of film, at least double, probably triple what you look through in a normal windshield.”

@PungoteagueDave and @teethdood I am glad you posted about your front window tint.

I'm seriously considering a CT, but it will have to park outside in Texas. With any other car I've had to keep outside, I use a Covercraft windscreen shade which helps a lot. But obviously the CT design doesn't really allow for such, so I was considering a front window tint for the first time ever.

But any visual distortion or defects would definitely bother me. And obviously it's not a cheap solution. So I guess I'll prepare to live with the extra heat.

Meant bring to xpels attention to maybe create an alternative design for the cybertruck

I’m not sure what could be done given the physics challenge.

This is encouraging to hear. I had heard that new CTs don't come with a mobile connector, so I had been planning to order one. I guess I'll wait and see if mine comes with it also.

Nice to hear all these order status changes! My Jan 23 order should hopefully get a VIN soon.
Mine came with a mobile connector as well. I initiated a return on the one I ordered with the CT.

Slight update on my 1/23 order. Now showing a delivery window of 2/12-2/25. (Previously 2/16-3/1). The Delivery Status Checker shows Tesla's internal "tasks" slowly being checked off.

Just awaiting the news that it's been shipped...

- Ordered 11/26 (AWD, Gray, Cyberwheels,+ Armor).
- At the time, order estimate was 6-8 weeks. So Mid/Late Jan?
- January 3rd app flipped to 'In Production' and I got a VIN (898xx)
- January 9th -I was told truck would arrive at SC on 1/26, delivery scheduled for 1/27
- Sometime shortly after the 9th, it went from "In Production" to "In transit to delivery location"
- 1/23... I get a call from the local service center. With the storm about to dump on us, they were calling people to push out deliveries. (I was supposed to pick up on Tuesday)... Only when they checked, turns out my truck isn't expected to arrive until.... at least 2/5, so now it's...
- 2/9: Delivery... hopefully.
Annnd... delivered on 2/9. Baltimore Service Center was a bit busy, so it took me about 90 minutes total to get out of there.

Interestingly enough, my '26 AWD, 89xxx VIN, was delivered with:

2025.49.9
FSD 14.2.2.4

I was afraid, based on previous comments around here, that this was going to be like my 3, where some random piece of hardware in the car was newer, and I was stuck on an old train of software for like 4 months until they carried over the 'new code' to the main branch of software.

When I first got my windshield tinted I too complained about small imperfections in my line of sight near the left side. Only really ntoiceable at night when oncoming headlights slightly distort. They explained to me it was unavoidable due to the slight curve the windshield has in it (it is not an exact flat plane afterall). They call them "fingers" that form when trying to apply a flat sheet to a curve. Like applying a sticker to a hard hat or softball helmet, it will not go on without kinks. They heat it and get them out as best they can. They offered to do it again, but said it would simply happen again. I elected to just get used to it and I don't even notice them anymore. It's pretty minor in the grand scheme of things compared to losing 95% UV block (or IR, whatever it is...) on my terranium window in the hot California sun. Gives and takes.
