Has anyone with a Founder’s invite actually talked to Tesla about the process if you want to wait for the non-founder’s version?

So i got my invitation to configure. However, i don’t want the Founder’s edition and want more flexibility with options plus I am not interested in the Founder’s premium price markup. I have previously been on the waitlist for and then purchased a Model S (was P912, one of the first 1k reservation holders 5 years before my car was delivered) as well as a Model 3. In each of those cases there was an option that was easy to follow if you wanted to delay the purchase but not lose your place in line. With the CT there is no link or discussion or documentation I see anywhere that addresses this scenario. Has anyone in this position talked to Tesla with an official response regarding how this works for the CT?

Want the CyberBeast trimotor but I want to pick and choose my options and interior and want to save the $ for aftermarket upgrades.

Thoughts or experiences anyone?

I, too, am wondering this. There isn't even a way (at least that I can find) to decline the Foundation Series and allow someone down the line to grab it. I mean, how long is our option to take advantage of this opportunity valid? 48 hours? 7 days? I can't seem to find out.

I ordered the foundation Cyberbeast last night. Out of curiosity I called tesla today to see if I could pass and keep my early reservation for a non foundation version. I was told it's locked in and if I didn't want the foundation I would have to cancel and place another reservation. Still undecided if I'll actually go through when it's time to drop the $123k. If not, I'll be sure to update when and where it is supposed to be shipped to. Maybe someone could get there quick enough to grab it after the 3 days mentioned in the contract.

My thought process goes like this. Not every foundation invite sent out will covert to a sale for Tesla. For any myriad of reasons, the invited buyer will just not get the foundation version. At that point, the reservation for a Cybertruck just sits unfulfilled in their account.; it doesn't disappear or become invalid. People are saying not accepting the foundation invite would put them at the back of the line, which makes no sense to me.

I think if you just ignore the foundation invite, eventually when the limited 1000 foundation units are accounted for, and they start normal Cybertruck order invites, those who passed initially will simply be first up for the non foundation orders.

All of this is unconfirmed, of course, but just my 2 cents.

I really hope you’re right. I’d rather spend the extra money to try and swing the trimotor with black interior, badass 35”s, and absolutely MUST have FSD (cannot ever go back now since my MY has it)

I'm hopeful that you aren't forced to buy the Foundation edition.

It would seem cruel not only to significantly raise the price but then also force people to pay for all the extras, they might not want in the Foundation version. Even though technically you are getting a significant portion of that money in actual extras value at least.

Now post all the order excitement, I'm more inclined to want to wait for the standard DM release instead. I'm not really in that much of a rush.

Doesn't seem like you would be forced, but rather are just getting the option. If a Founders edition is 20k more, I would want to see a list of included features that are unique to the Founders edition, besides just some laser etching on the fender surface.

Likely (I would hope) there are some special benefits and features, such as Premium Connectivity, Lifetime Supercharging, and FSD included, as a minimum for that extra 20k premium. That premium is worth the price of the Range Extender and them some. Maybe they're offering choices of free accessories too? To me a Founders edition has to mean something tangible more than a just a low VIN and laser etching. My 2¢.

Want the truck asap but not with foundation price tag or badging. Guess I am glad I don’t live in CA or TX and don’t have to make the decision.
Just saw on reddit one guy from Utah and another from Idaho saying they got the email as well.

There have been a ton of folks posting about their orders on Reddit. Many more than I have seen on here.
