I get it Crissa,
and I agree
But Ill say it again. what you use them for is good reason to have them stay on
because you are using them which means you are there near your car at least within sight
of it. What I'm talking about is you've parked your car and gone, at the airport you used the parking lights because you are parking in a parking lot and you like that they stayed on while you unload the luggage you got your phone and passport already in your pocket and you know the car will lock when you walk away Got on a plane for a month vacation in Hawaii. 18days in you get a call from your insurance you find out that your CT is totaled the lights had been on so long and on this hot day they overheat and catch fire.

would you still think its a good feature?

or would you blame yourself for not remembering to put it back on auto.
or for not reading the page on parking lights in the manual.

In fairness, I don’t think anyone does. That’s kind of a key component in the process of communicating effectively.

learn to be productive not irritative
learn this
Ad hominem (Latin for 'to the person'), short for argumentum ad hominem, refers to several types of arguments that are usually fallacious. Often currently this term refers to a rhetorical strategy where the speaker attacks the character, motive, or some other attribute of the person making an argument rather than the substance of the argument itself. This avoids genuine debate by creating a diversion often using a totally irrelevant, but often highly charged attribute of the opponent's character or background.

You could not miss my point any harder if you were trying. Are you trying?

Either way, whether you know it or not, I’m not having a fight with you, pal.

Look, you clearly don't understand a feature that is on nearly every automobile (not just Tesla) and operates in a nearly identical way on every one of those vehicles. You want to be able to turn off your headlights while you park and we all understand that. That's not what parking lights do. No vehicle I've ever owned has had an auto-parking light setting.

haha you guys don't stop uh more Ad hominem

I understand it perfectly but I don't agree with it. And if you understand how easy that could be fixed and tried to understand the pitfalls this comes with. one of which I found out the Hardway no foul this time. but who knows next time.

by the way cars with ignition switches you can't leave the lights on without leaving the keys in the ignition.
except for maybe the hazard lights or e lights.

You seem to finding hostility or an attack (ad hominem or otherwise) where it does not exist. Parking lights are a feature and operate identically on basically every car. You don't like it and that's fine, you wish it would do something else and that's fine. It isn't however broken, they are doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing and what they do on every other car.

Y'know or the parking lights we're actually talking about here. And yes, the 2001 Audi TT in my garage will happily leave the headlights or the parking lights on until the battery drains without the key in the ignition. It doesn't even have an auto setting.
