FWIW I was told someone used a solar BTU meter behind the windshield and it didn't have any useful heat rejection.
Really, zero heat rejection with a windshield that size and with it overhead of the driver and passenger? Hopefully that was a mistake or a one-off issue with manufacturing.

Tesla doesn't do anything particularly special on the Model X either so I'm not surprised.

Why do you have this need to cope so hard? Really? That's the best theory you can craft? That there was one windshield made that didn't have the same properties as the rest, so it didn't reject heat? It's probably not an easy task to make glass that inherently rejects heat without changing its physical properties too much. So it's up to us to deal with. Take the risk and tint, or run your AC a little harder. Those are the choices.

There are some legitimate things to be annoyed with in terms of design decisions made. But I just don't see what good it is to stick your fingers in your ears and say "it can't be this way", when we both know that you nor I know what it takes to make a good windshield, and how much leeway the manufacturers have for embedding heat rejection into it.

SWF in Broward i know of a shop that’s reasonably priced for tint. A window is a window so shouldn’t very much but for the front windshield since that requires a wide roll.
So depending on material 150-220 for front windows and about 750-1000 for the front is what I’m hearing from a tint shop. I’ll edit post when I get the final price.

Going in today for Spectra Photosync IRD 70% on the windshield and 30% on the front doors and A-pillar windows. Will post photos tonight or tomorrow depending on lighting.

Nice, interested to see the 70% on the front especially. Love some before/after pics if you get a chance.

Initial impressions: clarity on the Photosync IRD 70% is perfect. Absolutely no low angle haze compared to some other cars I've been in with Xpel XR Plus and Ceramic Pro Kavaca IR. Will take some pics during the day tomorrow.
