There's a store that I go to that has been around for 6-12 months. If I tell FSD to navigate to it by name, it selects the bank next door to it. However the other new construction restaurant next door is recognized just fine if i navigate to it instead. Also, one of the turns into this new section of the shopping center is "unnamed road". The name doesn't stop FSD from working but it shows the maps aren't quite up to date.

The other obvious problem is a huge mile long construction project that's permanently removing 3-4 turn arounds. They are all just rubble and blocked off by cones yet the CT still attempts to slow down and use them...presumably because it sees them as options on the map.

The construction is understandable but it looks like outdated maps are going to basically brick any smooth navigation along this major stretch for awhile if the first example isn't even figured out yet...

It mostly uses it from Google, so... whenever that data updates. They have multiple mapping systems overlaid, as a user you only see one.

Not sure when it catches up.

Map data collection by the map providers (Google or whoever) is continuous, but incorporating that into map updates that are then made available to those like Tesla is almost certainly NOT continuous. So even a map update will miss things.

I think Google provides a way to report some things, like missing addresses. If Tesla uses Google maps (at least partly), then reporting something may at least make sure it's in the next update (or the one after that).

Try this routing as a test.

From another post I did:
Using TomTom planner has shown to match some quirky drive routes that people have seen and questioned. Putting the same from/to in to TomTom has shown the same quirks.

Oh damn, good catch, you guys were spot on. The google maps satellite imagery looks spot on and has the same error. I submitted a correction so we'll see how that goes.

It would be sweet if Tesla integrated OpenStreetMaps (OsmAnd) as the second option especially for use in the sticks.

This story ends where you drove down a boat ramp into a lake and you are blaming the CT's map app doesn't it?

How did the CT float?

I've seen multiple unique and odd routes the Tesla in-car visual planner make that match that TomTom's so I'm supicious that they aren't using a custom version of it that understand "supercharging" routing.

odd: eg instead of turning left in an intersection it may go past it and make a U-turn and then take a right.

They don’t update them nearly enough. We have a road near our house which was finished over a year ago and it cuts well over 5 minutes from a cross town drive and the navigation in all three of our teslas completely ignores it.
