Sadly most kids don’t have to wait 3-4 years for Christmas. I have never had to wait this long to buy anything in my whole life :-(
Not your home? I started looking for a house in 2007, and didn't move in until 2010. And I had saved for over a decade so we could.

I hear ya. I paid my current truck off 10 years ago. Once the payments ended I put the same amount into a separate account monthly for when I needed an eventual replacement basically funding my next down payment. So hear I sit, with my Tri motor reservation money in full awaiting arrival and the ole truck is still running well and nearly rust free. Of course I only drive about 3k miles per year so....

Those are good points. No @Crissa we shopped for and bought our home in a few months. And @GnarlyDudeLive i paid off my last car and started saving funds for my next one but didn’t sell it until they said the CT would be delayed until 2023 and then we bought the MY.

returning to the kid at Christmas theme, I do not think kids save for houses or cars and this wait is excruciating.

Everything I saved for as a kid ended up canceled or something when I went back to buy it.

like you saved up for a turntable, but by the time you took your little piggy bank to the music store they were all "vinyl? lol"

I started waiting for a world changing vehicle in 2014. My Elio did not arrive. I started waiting for a CT 5 days after the reveal. While I was waiting I put down a deposit on an Aptera. Still nothing! I don't want to put any pressure on Santa Musk but I am 76 years old. Gimme a break.

I think it's realistic to not expect production to ramp up to anything substantial until mid 2024 at the earliest. And if you're down the list like me (around 500,000) you probably need to add another year (I'm assuming many people ahead of me will not convert to an order). So yeah, probably 2025 . 3 more years.

I'm looking at picking up a Lightning. My reservation is at about 150,000 on that list. Production has already started with it. Biggest obstacle might be dealer markup. But with a recession looming maybe the car market will cool down...

But my Cyberdream is still alive!!! I look forward to the day of swapping out the Lightning for the CT. Don't quite have that kid at Christmas feeling anymore though.

I desperately wanted a minibike when I was 14 but my father said that if I wanted one I would have to earn the money to buy it. So I got a paper route. By the time I had earned enough to get a mini bike I was old enough to drive :) i wonder whether the CT, when it finally gets produced will be superceded by something even better, but so far my bet is on Tesla.

Vinyl? My mom is a vinyl head. She has so many crates of records...

No, more like, 'oh, no, we're all out of that lego set' or 'no, we only have the boat that turns to the left, not the one with the working rudder'.

That on line Google doc (no doubt worthless) said july 17 2025. That is 2 weeks before my 80th birthday! How that goes is anybody's guess.😱

Curb your emotions. Kids will have to learn that not everything is life reaches fruition. That’s why it is imperative to have a plan B.
