Tesla Cybertruck Introducing the Patented Cyber Hitch, full motion 5th Wheel Hitch for the Cybertruck Cyber Hitch - 1

The Cyber Hitch is a non intrusive (flush mount), full motion 5th Wheel Hitch. Road tested for 20 years.
The Cyber Hitch is designed to work with most trailer configurations.

Specs: 6" diameter coupler with a 2" King Pin.
Master Locking lever with 2 independent spring loaded locking pins for the king pin.
Towing capacity of 16,000 lbs (future considerations of up to 30,000 lbs).
The Cyber Hitch design, utilizes a "gooseneck" type configuration, but does not implement a ball.
Future enhancements to create a Cyber "Smart" type hitch.
(Sensors to be used are currently being evaluated).

Our goal is to provide a hitch system that will create a safe towing experience,
and secondly, get your truck back instantly!

We invite you to comment on any of the posts.

Thanks for taking the time to view the Cyber Hitch

Communication from the trailer to the truck

Tesla Cybertruck Introducing the Patented Cyber Hitch, full motion 5th Wheel Hitch for the Cybertruck Cyber Hitch - 2-1

Our goal is to eliminate the unknown.
Do you know the tongue weight of your trailer?
Do you know in the hitch is locked?
Do you know at what angle your truck is in reference to your trailer?
Do you know what trailer you are towing and what its specs are?

This and so much more is what we at Cyber Hitch would love to
incorporate into our design, so that you as a driver know that you
are being a safe driver.

Process of connecting the trailer. Once the Trailer is "nearly" down
back up the truck and the hitch will slide right into place.

More about the Hitch,
the X-Y Axis and how does it couple.

Tesla Cybertruck Introducing the Patented Cyber Hitch, full motion 5th Wheel Hitch for the Cybertruck 248-Bottom-Front

The Cyber Hitch parts are CNC milled and lathed. The tolerances are extremely tight. This provides a monolithic hitch, nearly eliminating “chucking”. This is so important, as “chucking” can be detrimental to any truck and trailers infrastructure.

This Cyber Hitch is 6″ in diameter with a 2″ master king pin. The master king pin is locked into place with 2 independent spring activated locking pins, one on the left and one on the right.

Whether you own a flat bed trailer, camper trailer or horse trailer, the Cyber Hitch can be installed on any trailer.

And lock the hitch in place. This can be done standing next to the bed of the truck.

The Cyber Hitch
is a 5th wheel hitch with
a true X-Y axis.

Tesla Cybertruck Introducing the Patented Cyber Hitch, full motion 5th Wheel Hitch for the Cybertruck Cyber Hitch - 4-2

The gooseneck configuration leaves the hitch on the trailer, not your truck! The Cyber Hitch has a true X-Y Axis. Glide effortlessly through any terrain. The Cyber Hitch is as smooth as silk.

Tesla Cybertruck Introducing the Patented Cyber Hitch, full motion 5th Wheel Hitch for the Cybertruck Cyber Hitch - 4-1

The movement of the Cyber Hitch is amazing!
Bumps, Dips, Railroad Tracks, off road are no match
for the Cyber Hitch. It's true X-Y axis glides effortlessly.
The CNC milled tight tolerances create a monolithic hitch,
this means little if NO chucking.

Let us know if you like this no chucking idea?? We do!

About Cyber Hitch

The Cyber Hitch is the invention of Darrel Burns. Darrel was a aerospace designer and machinist. During his career, he was employed by Morton Thiokol to design mechanical tools to build, fix and repair the Space Shuttle booster rockets. He ended his career at the Rolls Royce aeronautics division.

In 1995 prototypes were built and tested. In 1997 the 4th prototype was deployed on a truck and 30 ft RV Trailer. It has worked flawlessly for 25 years, at which time the truck and trailer were retired. The hitch is still alive and kick’n, ready for the next 100 years.
The Cyber Hitch in now Patented.

The things I'd like to know involve how the plate beneath the bed ties into the frame of the truck. Are there structural members under the bed that this plate can be welded/bolted to? Has Tesla revealed enough of the design to allow you to determine this? What about the motors? Is there clearance to them?

Now as to the implications of an interface to the truck's systems: that's pretty exciting. Musk has promised special software to make trailering easier. Having the tongue weight appear on the main screen is really cool but having the trailer drag (i.e. the reading from an axial load cell) available to that software is even more exciting in terms of what it implies for the range estimation software. Obviously this would require you to sit down at the table with Tesla and strike some sort of agreement. I hope that is underway or at least contemplated.

Wow this 5th wheel hitch seems extremely polished and well thought out already. The software integration aspect of it is most exciting to me.

I assume you guys have a reservation for one or more Cybertrucks. Where are you guys approximately in the reservation queue ? Hopefully early in the list so we can see the Cyber Hitch tested sooner than later.

Hi thanks for the great question. The clearance we need is approximately 1.5 inches under the bed of the truck. We have not yet discussed that with Tesla. But theoretically it would be bolted, or better yet welded to the frame.

We are all anticipating the Cyber truck arrival. We commute regularly from Lehi Ut to St George Ut. Which is a 300 mile drive, so for us the tri-motor with 500 miles seems to make the best fit.

Seems to me that there would be tremendous advantage to everyone if you supplied the part to Tesla and they installed it during fabrication of the truck in response to buyer ordering it as an option.

Umm oh, but there is no frame on the cybertruck. It's an exoskeleton. Might have to go back to the drawing board on this one

Hi Critical advisor,

That is a great point. Not many of us have seen whats "under the hood" as it where. Tesla is still making modifications to the Cybertruck. As Elon has said, " The truck will look a lot better" when it roles out. In our opinion, there was a lot of skepticism at the unveiling of the Cybertruck. Particularly all the potential customers who are thinking, "can this pull a 5th Wheel or bumper trailer?".

On Dec 1, 2019 Motorhome Man posted the Cybertruck 5th wheel concept. I must have struck a chord with many people, as it has had over 244,000 views.

Additionally, another famous picture is the Cybertruck bumper hitch picture. Once again the public is watching and waiting to see how Tesla is going to address the towing features of this truck.

I assure you, the bumper hitch, rated to pull 15,000 lbs is not simply welded to the exoskeleton.

We are optimistic that Tesla will see the huge benefit of the Cyber Hitch. If Tesla is interested, we'll find a way.

Best regards,

Glenn
