I was leaning on center console trying to understand why foot well lights weren’t going on and the CT turned off. So I turn it back on and started leaning again on the center console and the vehicle turned off again.

Is this a hidden off button or is it abnormal? Certainly not desirable. The whole center console is horridly designed anyhow…the bench seat or a small bucket seat would have been far better.

I'd agree that the console is oddly designed. But a bench seat would require a center harness which would be very difficult to engineer without a thick roof structure which Is currently glass.

This is what I think is happening as well. I’ve seen it on our X
Happens on my M3LR when I lean too far right, and therefore off the seat sensor, every time.

Yes, I noticed my CT does this when parked if I lean I to the back seat to grab something.

perhaps you are lifting off the sensor in the driver's seat?
ahhh! I bet you are right. I’ll try just lifting my butt off the seat and see if that does the same trick.

It would certainly be an aesthetic design challenge, but ABTS (all belts to seat) has been a design option for decades. I worked on the seats for the GMT800 twenty years ago with the belt integrated to the seat structure.

That said, I can't wait to see an aftermarket solution to change out the center console with something different. I find the storage very cumbersome to get into.

I can confirm the “shutoff” happens in park if I’ve been sitting for a while, usually while tinkering with the software and then lifting my butt to reach the floor or another seat.

That said, I’m a little surprised at this behavior. It’s like the decision on whether a human is present or not is solely a timer and seat force meter.

Add that to all the sub-par beta features on CT. The new park assist is utter garbage for my garage. My slightly shiny garage floor confuses the software and I still have to manually hit the camera button to see for parking.

And don’t get me started on the stainless steel surface destruction they do to force folks to massively overpay for cheap coating or wraps…don’t get me wrong, I love my CT, mostly for the acceleration giggle factor, but they have so much to learn about the basics of vehicles. And since giggle is the main reason I got it, I’m ok letting it look ugly and sloppy because I’m having a blast…but totally not a good look to outsiders. Was there a reason they chose not to linearly brush the steel? And even my fridge comes coated…it’s cheap and easy…
