Almost 50k longshoremen are striking on the East Coast and Gulf Ports.

If Uncle Sam doesn’t intervene or an agreement isn’t met automobile production at every manufacturer will be impacted due to parts shortages from worldwide suppliers.

This strike could ignite inflation again just as it was starting to cool off.

Biden will most likely not engage the Taft Hartley Act as he is pro union.

It will be interesting to how this plays out. The Longshoremen want a 77% pay raise, they declined 50%. I think the big sticking point will be port automation.

The WHOLE world is going to automation, not just ports. This is just Union bosses wanting to hold on to dollars they won't have if their workers are rightly replaced with machines. Listening to the interviews with strikers and especially the Union Spokesperson, they all seem like a whiny bunch, so I can't imagine the size of their HR department. Replace them with machines!

Automation should be something that helps everyone, not just company owners and shareholders. They can implement automation and give workers a bigger share of the pie.

The shipping companies and port operators make money hand over fist and can easily settle this. I’m fine with Tesla production slowing down until the workers get what they want.

Learn from Reagan
Remember how Reagan dealt with striking Air Traffic Controllers?
Regan fired the air traffic controllers because they are civil servants and not permitted to strike.

It is a violation of federal law for a private employer to fire workers for unionizing or participating in a lawful strike.
