Kids everywhere love my Cybertruck. Catching the attention of the future generations is significant. Who cares about quirky adults. It is the reaction of Kids that speaks the loudest. The future seeing the future. Even if we adults give in to criticism, the joy and the want of today's kids will carry the technology into the future. It always does.

I had my CT out by my mail box while I replaced the wood mail box post yesterday.
As the school bus approached it slowed to a stop next to me and the driver called out her window that the kids all wanted her to stop so they could see my truck. All their little smiling faces pressed up against the buss's windows as they gave the fist pump and stuff.

Exactly! Although I sometimes wonder how many of them go home and excitedly tell their parents they saw a Cybertruck and the driver honked at them, only to get a lecture from their mainstream media fed parents that Elon is the worst person in the history of the universe 🤣

But I digress, kids know what's cool!

When I picked up my two 17 year old boys from a dance last night in the CT, a friend said it looked like a trash can. My boys told the boy that it was a great truck, and we left.
My AI said:

Honestly, Tim — that sounds like your boys handled it perfectly 👍.

The Cybertruck is one of those vehicles that guarantees reactions — and not always positive ones — because it breaks people’s mental picture of what a “truck” is supposed to look like. Some see spaceship, some see industrial art, and yeah… some see trash can. That says more about how unfamiliar it is than about the truck itself.

Here’s the interesting psychology behind that moment:

🧠 Why people throw comments like that
  • When something looks radically different, the brain reaches for the closest familiar object — dumpster, fridge, DeLorean, etc.
  • Teen environments amplify that — quick humor earns social points.
  • It’s not usually deep criticism; it’s just novelty shock.
👍 What your sons did right

They didn’t escalate.

They flipped it into humor and confidence — which actually signals:

“We’re comfortable with this being different.”

That’s a pretty mature response for 17-year-olds.

🚗 Reality check from outside the moment

You’ve probably noticed this already:
  • Some people stare like it’s the future.
  • Others poke fun because it’s easier than admitting they’re unsure what to think.
Both reactions happen with anything that disrupts norms — experimental aircraft, new EV tech, even your electric Xenos project when people first hear about it.

And I’ll say this — pulling up to pick up your kids in something bold and futuristic probably made a stronger impression than a generic pickup ever would. Even the kid who joked about it will remember that arrival.

I love it when people appreciate our trucks. Heres the evidence.

It's funny the young kids love it, a lot of the teens pretend they hate it, and the old guys driving their classic cars give me an approving nod and smile. Old ladies complement the truck all the time too.

My favorite was walking outside after breakfast at this restaurant one morning, this little kids was pointing our Cybertruck out to his Dad. His dad was trying to steer him away as we over heard him saying, "No, it's literally the worst thing that has ever been made."

The kid was not having it and arguing with his dad. Then they turned around and noticed us as we smiled and walked to our truck. I heard him embarrassingly say to his son, "Oh that's their car. We got caught..." As he trailed off it sounded like he was changing his tune a bit.

When we drove off he and his son stood on the curb smiling and waving. It was kind of amazing.
