Marginally more expensive, infinitely safer

I'll echo what Tom suggested.

It is not that expensive, and it is infinitely SAFER for everyone! That is, YOU, the linemen, your wife and kids, and whoever else might be in your home. What if you are not there when the power goes out, but the CT is?? Are you comfortable with the kids doing this to get the TV back on.... because they saw you do it once??

BTW, I have a similar setup installed in an older outbuilding. It is a manual disconnect switch with a male/female extension cord from the generator. It was allowed by NEC code when installed, but I am not sure that is even allowed today. Still, it is a much better solution than the "suicide" cord setup you now have. Not to "UN-NIKE it but....

Tesla needs to get their heads out of their asses, and allow Powershare to be shipped to and installed by any licensed electrician of our choice. I'm certainly not paying 10x what I should to get it installed by an approved contractor.

After reading about all of the trials and tribulations involved in installing power share, and the exorbitant cost, I decided it's just not worth it. So here is my solution. A 50A male plug ($16.99) and a 50A Male to bare wire power cord ($19.50). On the side of my garage there is a 50A RV power outlet box and I have a 50A RV power extension cord. If I lose power - shut off main 200A breaker and 50A outlet box breaker, plug CT into extension cord and power outlet box, turn on CT outlet and turn on 50A RV outlet breaker.

Yes this is potentially dangerous.
Yes my location is secure.
Yes I should install a lockout box and plan to do so

Now I have to come up with $2500 worth of debris to purchase from the Tesla shop.

You might duckduckgo (my preferred alternative to google) "suicide cord".

Then ask yourself how it came by EARNED that nickname??
