A storm in a teacup. Tesla effectively raised the price by $200.
Why not call this the smallest Tesla price hike in years?
p.s. spare wheels, charging bricks … all easy ways to cut costs and increase profit margins …

I don't mind that they took away the mobile charger and make it a separate purchase. There are quite a few people that don't ever use them. ...
Most people never need an airbag, either.

That's goofy, landfills? Why would it go to a landfill?

Indeed! How often do you use an airbag? The data shows it is a least used part in the vehicle. Mostly never used for a vehicle life! But when you need it - you will appreciate it is there!
And about a lumber support - i hate it is removed. My wife always uses it on the trips. And there is no way to add it on tesla website

You know what other automotive staples a Tesla is not equipped with?
  • Keys
  • Spare tire or jack
  • 8-Track Player
  • Cassette Player
  • CD Player
  • DVD Player
  • Mast Antenna
  • Volume Knob
  • Cigarette Lighter
  • Ashtray
  • Leather
  • Rustproofing
  • Undercoating
  • "Advertising Fee"
  • "Market Adjustment"
Do you miss any of these things?

I'm perplexed by the comparison to airbags and other safety equipment, which are legally required. Are you suggesting that Level-1 charging capability should be included with all EVs as a matter of federal law?

You're perplexed that people might think of something as safety equipment before it's required by federal law?

We are in transition.

Outlets are being standardised, and there is a diminishing need for alternative connectors.

Those effected are victims of transition... it will be short-lived.

Destinations who don't upgrade will have diminishing customers. It will be difficult to find non-standard outlets !!

And for us who want to be safe as we travel off the beaten track, we can buy whatever we think we might need. Tesla doesn't need to be everything to everyone.

In AU, a 240v 10 or 15amp to the car is probably it.

The mobile connector can plug into any outlet with the right adapter.

If your wall connector cannot supply the full amount - because your grid is unavailable or overtaxed or your inverter or power source can't supply enough, the wall box is useless. It's a one-size thing.

I don't understand waiting until you have taken delivery of an EV before obtaining a method of charging it.

"Safety equipment" includes jumper cables, flares, first-aid kit, food, water, radio, flashlight, etc. You're free to include any of these in your vehicle, but are not generally included.

I'm perplexed by the false equivalency. The statement "omission of something optional is the same as the omission of something mandatory" makes no sense to me.

I see that both Apple and civilization in general managed to survive the omission of a USB wall charger with every new iPhone, despite claims to the contrary.

Sandy is certainly a fan of the change.

I've laughed so many times at the ridiculous whining that happens when Apple stops including crap that was outdated years before. Wired headphones? My god, how many iPhones did I sell with this in the ad: "Includes unused charging cable, charger plug, and wired headphones." Because yeah, everyone over 20 already has better things already, like wireless headphones.

Most Tesla buyers don't have a charger. A great many Tesla buyers don't need one. As long as one remains available to buy, so what?

My Tesla didn't come with a trash container. Now that's something I demand in every car. Or the sun shades for the Windows, which are ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY (where I live, most won't use them I suspect).
