The matte lead ink gray PPF looks really nice! Thank you for sharing. (y)

I can't decide between the 50% tinted PPF and the matte wrap PPF...... Is matte wrap easier or harder to clean? Does it need special ways to wash and dry the vehicle?

Thanks for any tips on cleaning/drying matte wrap.

Matte wraps are generally easier to keep clean in my experience. They also don't attract fingerprints so they look clean longer. The tinted PPF is a fingerprints magnet as it's glossy. They show a bit less than they do on the steel but they still show, while with matte wraps you will likely not see fingerprints at all.

In terms of how to wash/dry the vehicle - in my experience, there is no special handling needed. I mostly do gas station car washes as they are fast & cheap, and never had an issue. You just need to avoid any car washing for several days after the wrap, so it can fully cure before it gets exposed to water under pressure. Once it's cured, I haven't treated it differently than my regular cars (with paint) and haven't had any issues whatsoever.

Thanks! Very useful information, now I might be leaning towards the matte wrap.

I will get the Cyberrtruck in a short few months, and look forward to have you wrap it. (y)

I got the 50% tint (glossy) also from TWraps, and I love it. It doesn’t show fingerprints in my experience, and I like that I can see the texture of the stainless underneath. It adds depth. Photos here. I think the glossy may actually be easier to clean than the matte.

I was also torn between the 50% tint and the ink matte pictured above, and I’m happy with my choice- but both look great - Just to make your decision harder for ya. :) I’m sure you will be stoked either way.

Looks great!
What was the most difficult part of DIY’ing the wrap?

If I am hypothetically to make a "scientific" experiment where I put one glossy panel and one satin/matte panel on my CT (next to each other, say 2 doors), to test how they cope with dirt, so we can settle this debate, what kind of stuff should I do to these? On top of my mind:
* Fingerprints test (clean hands)
* Fingerprints test (dirty hands, perhaps oily - touch a burger and then the car)
* Smear dirt on it
* Just spray them with water or soapy water and see how easy it washes off
* Ketchup/Mayo/Oil?
* Throw eggs at them because it sounds fun (there goes the kids college fund with the current price of eggs ?)

Any other ideas?

I suggest doing the above and seeing how easy it is to just wipe off- then rinse off with some water - then soap and water. Ideally I’m looking for minimal maintenance. :)

drive on dusty/ muddy terrain
drive on salted/sanded winter roads

both tests will push particles at velocity onto the wrap. removing the particles in a standard car wash will show if there is any damage/marks. may take 5-10 cycles of this for any damage to be visible.

Wrapped the truck this week in Atlanta with 50% PPF from TWraps.
Great kit with all the precise panel cuts. Very happy.

That looks great!

How long did it take for you to wrap it? Any post DIY tips or learnings?

Asking bc I’ve been thinking of purchasing their DIY wrap…

Thanks I really like it. I was not gonna have another black vehicle lol and it’s got a little bit of olive green in it which is very cool.
Two things which you have to do is get a good metal solvent and clean the areas of the stainless where you’re going to fold over the wrap because you want it to adhere. I would also get some PPF adhesive and apply a really thin film before you fold over PPF as it will help it stick better. And a heat gun helps persuade PPF to lay flat In tight areas(side mirrors). Also, there are 2 quality squeegees inside tube that I found late.
There is a lot of film here, and it’s cut well, but I have a couple of 1” spots I’ve got to go back and glue down.
Highly recommended kit.
